Duffy’s Love Shack

This place is so much fun! It’s the coolest bar and it sits in a parking lot! I had to do some shopping so my hubby found his way to the bar. They serve fun drinks in awesome bowls and glasses. They even play space odyssey when you order their special burning volcano drink. The staff is helpful and keep the place lively. We have been there a few times and will return. A great place to go while waiting on a ferry as well.

I loved going to this place at night! I got 4 drinks while here, which all turned out amazing. They aren’t ridiculously overpriced and the cups we got were really cool. I also got the cheese sticks, which were really delicious and definitely something that I would recommend. My only complaint is that you MUST give them your credit card if you get the famous volcano and you cannot get it back until you give the bowl back. I never start tabs, and I pay for my drinks one at a time, so it was kinda annoying having to start a tab to just close it right away! Other than that, it was an amazing place with great nightlife!

Loved this place! Had a shark tank and something else in a parrot cup… The shark tank was gooooooood! 64 oz is a lot between two people though… so I recommend if you are a lightweight to steer clear. Fun bar though, pretty good food. I will go back next time we are at St Thomas.

Drinks were weak, food was not good and wasn’t served hot. Two stars for happy hour prices. May have been better if we went on Lady’s Night which is Friday. We should’ve eaten in St. John before returning.

I love it. It’s a bit touristy and the bartenders can easily spot a local and a tourist and act accordingly. It’s always a smooth fun seamless experience. The bartenders are really good and the servers make you feel at home.

We were trying to kill some time before we were expected to go on our catamaran excursion and we stumbled upon this shack of a dive bar dumped on the edge of a parking lot. This makes it sound sort of like a dump of a place, but it really isn’t!
It’s a kitschy tourist bar located in a parking lot! It’s ACTUALLY a parking lot bar! They have adorable themed drinks where you can purchase the souvenir cup afterward, if you’d like. They have typical tourist prices (not necessarily crazy overpriced though) and the bartenders are very friendly!
There were four of us and we ordered the Shark Tank — 64oz. of alcohol. There are even little sharks floating around in the bowl with MORE alcohol (dyed red to look like blood) in them — little shark shots for an added zing. Needless to say, we were all in a good place by the time the tank was drained.
I definitely recommend this to people who are visiting the island. It’s a lot of fun!

The food was ok. I had Mahi Mahi Sandwich and my wife had a burger. Nothing to write home about. I was disappointed in the drinks mostly. We ordered frozen drinks. They were tasty, yet really weak.

Went here on the recommendation of some friends while we were visiting the island. Wish we would have gone in the evening, I hear that’s much better.
Staff was kind of friendly, but I get the feeling you have to be a local to get the special attention they were getting ;)
We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers… calamari…meh, nothing to write home about and I have to say the fun drinks were very bland and not at all strong.
I think I had my expectation built, but the location is just strange. In all honestly, I’m not sure I would recommend to anyone hanging around there at night… seemed a little sketchy and all of the locals told us NOT to go out at night. I don’t know, maybe I would try it again the next time I’m there.
It was small and cozy and had really cool decorations… maybe the nightlife there is superb and fun!!! As with most here putting up there reviews, I guess just watch yourself and your stuff, drink up and maybe dance on the bar.

Oh Duffy’s. WHERE do I begin. What Duffy’s really is. is an Island shack, situated in the middle of a borderline shady parking lot on the east end of St. Thomas. Throw in a college bar atmosphere with some disco lights, weird smog thrower and bammm — that’s duffy for ya! Plenty of drinks on their menu — everything comes either in a plastic cup or a signature cup if want to pay extra. The place is always teeming with tourists and the music is hopping! As with any other touristy clubs, I recommend watching your purse and your junk — you are pretty much putting everything up for grabs by just stepping in here. However, the vibe is just great! My 16 — 23 year old self would have come here EVERY night i was on the island — in reality we ended up going just once, haha! Don’t think they serve any food, and the place is a bit grimy.
However, we went here for the vibe and their frozen drinks (which turned out to be pretty watered out). The music was just awesome — had tons of drunk fun! When we were exhausted, we just went across the street to the Tap and Still for some grilled cheese.
From what I heard and saw — Duffy’s is an island institution — make sure you weave this into your island vacay schedule :)

We were told that we had to stop by Duffy’s during our trip, and I’m glad that we did. Their drink menu is full of creative and fun drinks — my boyfriend ordered a 50oz Volcano, that came equipped with a floating boat and shark. A handful of the smaller drinks also come in cool shooters or cups that you can take with you. Food is pretty good as well. We were also surprised by the crowd that showed up — the small bar and surrounding parking lot were packed by about 10pm. Great place to drink and dance with friends!

Best local dice we have found so far. It’s fun, full of great drinks, and the staff is awesome! It is a hole in the wall, but don’t let it fool you. Give it a try — you won’t regret it!

Drinks are soo good here! We had the nachos and were just okay.
Come here for the drinks and supposedly they have Ladies drinking free on Wednesday nights.
Also, some drinks you are able to get souvenir glasses which was great.
My favorites were lime in da coconut, bushwhacker, and pina coladas.

We found Duffy’s Love Shack overlooking the main road through Red Hook. Most of the places we visited in Red Hook were right on the water, but Duffy’s is across the street but up high. Is seems they attract the crowds after dark, when darkness seems to provide walls around you. Although we sat inside here, after dark they set up most of the tables outside on the pavement of the parking lot. The music covers up the street sounds from below. We had a great time here — it had a good feel, and happy hour beers are very low priced. Duffy’s could use a restroom upgrade, or else I’d have given it 5 stars.

Went here with my husband for some drinks and a little food hoping they had some happy hour specials, but the only specials were on bud light and miller light. Not a very good happy hour.
But besides that throughout our visit we tried these drinks: berry berry, the jungle juice one, lime in dee coconut, and mellow Merlin. All were super tasty except for mellow Merlin which was super gross. It tasted very artificial like some sort of candy and had a neon green color. The lime in dee coconut was very good! It came in a real coconut that had been cracked on top, very fun.
For food we had the Caribbean pu-​pu. It was pretty good. The chicken skewers, plantains, coconut shrimp, and rum soaked pineapple were all really good.

Came here on the recommendation of another couple we met while on a southern Caribbean cruise and we were quite pleased! This place is small and right in the middle of a parking lot, but the drinks are strong and the food is tasty! We tried the Caribbean pu-​pu platter and it was pretty solid. It would have been nice to have a few more coconut shrimp to be honest, but otherwise we liked that we could throw a bite or two up onto the warmer for a quick blast of heat if needed. We ordered the shark tank to drink and it was monsterous. And strong. But that’s how we like it! Great atmosphere, great service, and solid food and drinks. The bathroom is just about the smallest bathroom I’ve ever been in – but at least they have one. We’ll be back if we’re ever on the island again :)

I’m giving them five stars. I had a great time here with my husband and two kids (22 & 15 years old).
First, this place was recommended by many people when I told them where we were heading for vaca. When we arrived, I was sure the driver had it wrong. How could this be the place everyone was talking about? It’s in a parking lot!
Well, let me tell you. We had a blast! Our servers were outstanding and fun. The drinks are imaginative and well made and the food? I was surprised! I loved everything we tried. We ate here twice in one day first snacks, then we left to do some shopping and came back for dinner and loved every moment we spent here.
We bought shots for other tables and talked to them like we were all friends. That’s the atmosphere Duffy’s projects. However, if you’re uncomfortable sitting in a parking lot, eating and drinking then don’t go here because you would review it poorly when it doesn’t deserve that. Just my opinion

Very cool bar in a parking lot! They have a variety of interesting and cool drinks to order! Plus everything comes out with a cool island twist!
The food was pretty good too! Taco Tuesday is a must!

We found this place because our lady cab driver told us to go here. And boy was she right. It’s a bar! It’s the parking lot! It’s a bar in the parking lot! Wooooooo.
You get to pick you cups/​mugs before you order your drink. And guess what? You get to keep them. Woooooo. Yes, I brought my adorable Monkey cup (Dark and stormy in this cup) and a blue shark cup back in my carry on all the way to Seattle. Now if you’ve been here, you know that’s a 10 – 12 hours of travel time back. Yea, those ceramic mugs were that cute and that adorable. I patiently carried them like a newborn child. Well in my version anyways.
I came here half a dozen times during my stay on this side of the island. 8 pm is a good time to come and grab a seat in this little tiny hut like place with funky music and lights going on. Came on Sat night and never got to sit. Oh yea, happy hour? It is dirt cheap. You can get refills for your drinks for half price. Most of them anyway. The crowd is mix and fun. You’ll see locals, you’ll see tourists, young and old plus you’ll even see some tough macho dudes along with your average frat boys. They play bob marley, they play red red wine. They play beach boys! If you are unlucky to find a table, you can try squeezing yourself up at the tiki bar. Or take your drink and just dance. It’s a tiny funky place in the parking lot. Can’t go wrong either way. You just gotta visit at least once. Else you’ll be missing out big time! :)
