My boyfriend and I went to La Pizzada Pizzeria to watch the Argentina vs. Ecuador World Cup qualifier match. It was by far the largest restaurant I have eaten at in Argentina and had numerous TVs scattered throughout. While it certainly fulfilled the requirements of «game and pizza,» there was nothing exceptional or notable about the place. We ordered the medium-sized charcuterie plate and munched happily on salami, olives and blue cheese as the game started. When we asked our waiter for a wine recommendation he said he would check to see what he had in stock. He then proceeded to bring out the most expensive Malbec on the list and emphasize that it was«the best». We accepted(wanting desperately to forget the blistering beating that Argentina was taking on the soccer field) and found the bottle of Alambrado to be average. But average in a country that produces 75% of the world’s Malbec is… A bit of a disappointment. Finally, the pizza. We tried the«Yankee» which offered mushrooms, red peppers and olives along with ham and calabreza(if bacon and salami had a baby…). The crust was thin and crunchy. Not bad, but not a pizza I’ll be craving a week from now. Overall, a fine experience. But I hope to find a more appealing spot to watch sporting events at in the future.
