20÷1÷2012 My quest for some cosy couches ended today at Avant-Garde…all I could do was think about how great some of these couches would look in my first home, combined with the colours of that lamp, or that chair, or those eye-catching oil paintings… Avant-Garde — you surprised me… with your colour choices. And chairs. And very cool-looking rugs, wall paintings, cushions of many different colours(I quickly grabbed the bright red one and hugged it!). No surprise though. You like reading your book here. Inside. This store. Sitting comfortably on one of your couches in the back corner. The employee here was very friendly — as she let me browse through upstairs unsupervised! She gave me enough information to excite me, without giving too much away, or being pushy. Pretty straightforward visit here — the exterior is ugly but inside there are some beautiful furnishings to add to your new or current home!

This is one of those shops that look rather questionable from the outside. I walked past it a couple of times, thinking that it’s probably full of random old and useless things that aren’t particularly pretty. However, one day they had a couple of really nice paintings exhibited in their windows and I thought why not give it a go and see what else there is. The shop has two floors, with the ground floor mainly containing furniture, decorations and homewares and the top floor being something like an art gallery, constituted of multiple rooms with heaps of paintings in them. I think there is definitely something in here for every taste. Antique watches, Pop Art Paintings, wooden coffee tables and a lot more. It’s not cheap but not overpriced, like many furniture places these days. They seem to change their stock quite frequently and I’ll probably go back soon. Don’t let the exterior drive you a way… it’s certainly worth the browse.
