I’ve been taking Wednesday night group classes with Elite Synergy since January this year and it’s been a really great experience. My friend encouraged me to come along to a salsa class, and then one week i just decided to stay for waltz afterwards. It’s been a favourite part of my week for most of this year to attend both classes.(6.45pm Salsa, 7.30pm Waltz) I’ve always wanted to learn how to dance properly and while I loved the little bit of contemporary and jazz I learnt at high school, social ballroom and Latin dance has become my healthy outlet this year. A place to relieve some university stress and work on a skill I really enjoy. The studio is on Gilles St(entry around the back of the Dance Linx building… something it took me a little time to work out on the first visit). The teaching team at Elite Synergy are incredibly friendly and thoroughly teach you the step with their own special adjectives, which may at first seem unconventional(let’s dance this time Speedy Gonzalez!), ensuring that you really remember the work. It’s also encouraged to write down everything you are learning which helps when you return home and are trying to practice: D These classes are a great way to get prepared for social dancing which the team at Elite Synergy will eagerly invite you along to. Although I only take Salsa and Waltz there are also classes in Bachata and Rumba available. A 10 class pass will cost $ 165 and the studio also offers private lessons if you want to work particularly on a certain skill. You don’t need a partner, or fancy shoes/clothes, or to know how to dance. If you are considering learning some social dance I would absolutely recommend checking out this school.
