One of the best places to go for coffee — always a biscotti complimentary. Where else can you get that nowadays? Food is simply beautiful from sweets to pasta. Staff are friendly and happy to see you. Overall nice place to go for a coffee or meal with a friend or family, away from the busyness of the mall the atmosphere is very relaxing — worth trying out!

Came here years ago and got an Italian hot chocolate. I wanted to bring my husband here but couldn’t remember where to find it. Finally found it again and I’m so glad I did. Staff are lovely and the Italian hot chocolate is absolutely gorgeous

A touch of southern Europe in the heart of Adelaide. Beautiful setting in the middle of the historic Adelaide Arcade. You know things are authentic when you hear Italian spoken around the centre bar all times of the day. Coffee is consistently strong & excellent. The table service is very friendly and very European. Great for meetings as it’s off the beaten tracks. Overall it’s the one place I have been keep coming back for years.

Tucked off the mall in Gay’s Arcade, off of Adelaide Arcade is this place. It’s a good spot for a nice Italian lunch, business lunch meeting anyone? There is the complete range from sandwiches to soups and of course, PASTA… All very nicely cooked and the services is all good.

Holidaying in Adelaide we stumbled across this buzzing little café whilst looking for somewhere to enjoy our breakfast. Nicely tucked into the arcade adjacently connected to the Adelaide Arcade, we decide to try it out. Thank goodness we did. There were no disappointments here. This is a quality café with excellent coffee’s, savouries and desserts. I ordered an iced coffee, which was the best I’ve enjoyed thus far. My croissant was also wonderful and fresh. By far the service here is excellent. Wait staff are polite and automatically attend to the little things without your needing to do anything. If your glass of water is close to empty, the next moment it will be filled. When you’ve finished your meal, your plates are removed. And so on. Will certainly return should I plan a trip to Adelaide again in the future.

Have always been impressed by their genuine Italian service — especially the complimentary almond biscotti and glass of water with coffee. Also, it’s a nice little place to relax and ‘people watch’, while tucked away just off Rundle Mall. Should try their salmon foccacia. really good.

21÷1÷2012 Caffe L’Incontro definitely pulls off the Italian café vibe, and with a barista named Frederico, it works well. I immediately felt that the atmosphere was very quiet on a Saturday afternoon(sad face), and then he told me that weekdays are much more busier. For this, I must commend them on their selection of their location, because they are situated in one of the absolute best places in Rundle Mall, the Gays Arcade. There are other five star places nearby, so it’s perfect. Their Italian coffee is very strong and authentic, and the ham & cheese toast I had was fresh and delicious. I tried starting a conversation about Italy with the barista at the end of my meal, but all he said was to go to Rome, Florence and Venice. I honestly don’t frequent Italian places enough! I noticed that quite a few Aussie families walked past here and ordered a quick takeaway. Yes. Rachel hit the nail when she wrote that L’Incontro has good-looking staff… the barista reminded me of an skinny Italian Vin Deisel.(p.s. Italian is definitely the first language here), and I was instantly intrigued. Clean floors, unique high chairs, easy to read menus… Thus far, this is definitely the best-looking café I’ve seen so far. Of course these are just outward appearances… but they go well with the good-looking staff! BAM. But it’s what’s on this inside that really matters, right? I zoned in on their selection of coffees, drinks, Italian sandwiches, and lunches. My coffee was very strong, just the way real Italians do it. Get that weak stuff out of here! Next time I want to transport myself back to Italy for a little while, I’ll be sure to come back here.

Caffe L’Incontro serves up bellissimo fresh, authentic Italian food. It even has Italian waiters and waitresses. MEALS I love the fact that this café still serves proper, hearty Italian meals in the late afternoon when many other Adelaide kitchens are shut. There is a great selection of traditional Italian food and there is always something interesting on the specials board. The chefs make great calzones, such as the Vegetariana calzone with grilled eggplant, capsicum, zucchini and pesto. The pasta ravioli dell orto spinach, with ricotta in tomato sauce with eggplant, capsicum and zucchini is also really tasty. The grilled barramundi al limone with creamy fresh lemon juice served w mixed salad w lincontro dressing is another highlight. SERVICE The waiting staff are really nice and the service is generally really prompt. I must thank the Italian waitress who served me one day when I had a fantastic ravioli, who politely asked if she may use a serviette to wipe off the cream that I had managed to get tangled in my hair. It was that good I had no idea, and she saved me from looking a fool for the rest of the day.

Caffe L’Incontro is a very cute café located in the midst of the stores in Adelaide Arcade off Rundle Mall. It’s very Italian(relatively attractive Italian man behind the counter included), with some extremely good looking sweets, and the meals range between $ 10 and $ 22. All I had was the iced coffee, which is probably not worth the $ 5.50, but the loveliness(and attractiveness) of the man behind the counter pretty well made it worth it. I would definitely come back here to try out some of the meals, as they all looked really good on the menu for a decent price. Plus, did I mention the man at the counter was pretty attractive?(It didn’t help that one of his friends walked up to him and they started having a conversation in Italian…)

The East End used to be a bit of a desert when it came to cheap(ish), good quality delicious pasta. Amalfi’s is yum, but a pricier, Scoozi does rubbish pasta and Lucia’s is all the way over at the markets. Enter L’Incontro. I don’t usually hang out in the swanky Gay’s Arcade that often, but I came here for a quick pasta meal with some friends once and was impressed. L’Incontro is an Italian-run business, and is perfect for lunch or dinner on Fridays. They have a fairly extensive menu including risottos, pastas and focaccia’s. I prefer to stick to the simpler pasta dishes, as I just love the combination of a few great flavours. The gnocchi here was very good, and the quality of the ingredients(which really makes good Italian food great) is quite high. There is an in-store seating area, plus seating around a central bar in the posh tiled arcade. If you’re eating and working, there is an Internode hotspot. I can’t speak for the coffee — I don’t drink the stuff — but my caffeinated friends seemed to like it. I only have one negative thing to say about this place. I came here recently and tried out one of the specials — meat ravioli with oranges in a kind of balsamic, vinegarey sauce. It didn’t quite hit the spot — the sauce was too sweet and came off closer to a dessert than a lunch. Otherwise, my experiences with this place have been great.
