Made the stop here as one of the few places open on Queens Birthday public holiday! Amazing coffee and great selection of cakes and bites to eat. Great place for brunch but make a booking, by the time I got there at 1030, I only just got a table for 2! Speedy service and got a sunny spot by the window which was divine. It’s located on Wright st, so lovely and quiet but still close to the city so was able to find an easy park. Worth a look!

Take 2. This time for lunch. Service was slower and not as friendly this time. Coffee orders were swiftly taken and arrived shortly later. Food orders took a while. Two of us ordered the ROASTCHICKENONRYE and the other the STEAKSANDWICH. Food took a good 25 minutes to arrive. A bit long considering the café wasn’t busy and most patrons had received their orders. My CHICKEN was rather dry and lacked flavour. It almost resembled the stuff from a can. The dish was dominated by the flavour of the slaw — heavy in red onion but with lovely batons of apple. The gherkins on the side were refreshing and needed. The rye was a questionable choice — it was big, crusty, and cut the roof of your mouth as you bit in. Bit more thought, guys. The STEAKSANDWICH made with slow cooked brisket looked divine and was, according to its eater. Brioche bun, caramelised onion, melt-in-your-mouth-meat. 4.5÷5 was the score given by a contented diner. Us bird eaters wished we had of ordered it. I’m thinking the lack of service may have come down to a predictably less-busy lunch service — their breakfast staff had gone home. As for the chicken sandwich — that was just poor execution. Try to get more flavour out of the chicken guys, and don’t over cook it. And balance it with ingredients that will compliment rather than detract.

Holy heck I love this place. Strange location, but it seems to be up and coming with food and coffee places. It can lead to some very interesting people watching being so close to whitmore square but it doesn’t matter because hell the coffee and food makes you delve into a dream world. The passion the employees have about coffee is insane, they will talk about the coffee and make suggestions, whether you want filtered, cold drip, espresso, macchiato or your general flat white you will get it and you will be impressed. Good clean bright atmosphere, not super crowded with tables and it has some outside seating. Some times you have to pay extra for avocado but for the smashed avo with heirloom tomatoes add a poached egg nobody cares. Have nothing bad to say about this place and my boyfriend states their hollandaise is the best he has had in Adelaide. Win win.

Ok, so I am in the process of actually writing a review of this amazing little café for my blog, but I just felt like I needed to actually get the word out about how damn good it is! Every breakfast I have had here has been just what I needed for a Sunday morning! It has become THE place for Sunday breakfasts. The staff are lovely and the food is consistently very good! It is good to see that end of town being revitalised bit by bit!

Walked in and was greeted straight away. Ordered blue swimmer crab cakes which was ok. Would try something else next time but coffee was really good.

Wow this place is amazing. Such a friendly positive vibe here, modern and retro mixed décor with vintage duralex glasses. I discovered this place because my best friend and I were looking for a place nearby for breakfast on Saturday… Turns out there aren’t many options in the city but coming across this place caught my eye. Great breakfast selection too, not too much and not too little in the meals — just right! Also perfect coffee, the real test is always when they make a long black — no dishwater looking black coffee here. It’s good to know they do all their roasting for coffee so they know their stuff. I’ll definitely be back again many times in the future.

Stellar, stellar, stellar. This is one of the closest, if not better, than the trendy brunchy places you can find in Melbourne. The décor is fantastic, you can tell that they have a great eye for design — the same motif translates into their menu, their branding, their furniture and even their apron! Very aesthetically pleasing. The place is large enough for people to be strewn out, no queues which is always fantastic. We were served by two chicks who had a brilliant sense of humour and the best attitude. We got the cold soba noodles(fantastic! Perfect for a warm day and vegetarians), the haloumi burger(comes with a lovely salad too!) and the waffles, which were just drop dead gorgeous, presentation wise and flavour wise. The hot and iced chocolates were done with noticeably high quality chocolate too, and the orange juice was freshly squeezed. Overall, the prices were a bit on the expensive side, but for this quality I would happily pay and come back.

Completely lives up to its reputation. The perfect coffee. Excellent service even at peak breakfast hour. Fast&friendly. Delicious. Healthy. Plenty of gluten-free options. Did I mention delicious? Waited too long to try it, will be back for sure.

So disappointed with what I’m going to write now. I started putting this review together based on first impressions, and was really excited about enjoying some great food. But alas, it was not to be. The lady was very welcoming when we got there and sat us down without delay. So far so good. My request for a vanilla latte was met with a slightly cool«we do good coffee here, you don’t need vanilla in it» response. The place was busy but still had plenty of seating available. Menu had great variety and orders taken after a short wait. The company was great, being out for brekkie with my wife of 13 year on Valentine’s Day, and that was pretty much the highlight of the morning. 10 minutes later I heard the waitress come and tell the table next to us that their order was placed 22 minutes ago, and this was quite a reasonable wait; their food should be out shortly. After 25 minutes we asked about our order. Same response — this was quite reasonable when they were busy. We then received an impromptu lecture that they don’t push orders through as that would be unfair. This despite the fact we didn’t ask for a rush, just how long it would be. Sounded like she was preempting what is obviously a frequently asked question with a rehearsed answer. After 35 minutes we asked again. This time it was 5 minutes away. Unfortunately we could not wait longer. We cancelled our order only to be told it was miraculously no longer 5 minutes, but on its way out of the kitchen. Alas we had run out of time and had to leave hungry, without eating. So, the place was busy but not packed. If you can’t get your food out of the kitchen within 40 minutes then you need to ask some serious questions about your operation. And you need to stop treating your customers in a patronising, maternalistic fashion. I know the guy next to us said he «got told off» when he asked about his food. That should not be the impression that your customers get. Overall — looked good, promised much but delivered very little. A real shame. For the record, the coffee was quite good.

If you are a massive coffee fan like myself you would enjoy My Kingdom for a Horse. They have cold drip, filtered and regular coffee to cater for everyones needs. I am yet to try the food as I always grab a coffee before I head off to work. The location is good and parking is pretty good too. The fit out is so retro but done well. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff.

Delicious, roomy, cool, elegant. Brought the whole clan for breakfast and all were happily filled up. I had the mushroom, potato and Taleggio cheese omelette with air dried ham: very tasty and satisfying. I hope to come again.

Came here for lunch on a quiet Friday with my Mum and brother on a hot day after coming from the airport and wanting to find somewhere different to eat in town and not have to stress about parking. MKFAH was a recommendation from my brother who had driven past it for work numerous times and wanted to see what it was like inside(he’s a mechanic and apparently Bridgestone Tyers have their distribution centre round the corner) as it looked«kinda cool». MKFAH certainly has a cool fit out, all clean lines, natural light and Danish influence with sacks of coffee hiding out the back. There weren’t too many people around and we were seated quickly with our server taking us through the menu and their coffee making process. My Mum was super intrigued and asked a million questions and our server was really good natured and explained it all, showing us the equipment they used and the brewing process and explaining all the top notes. Super nice. My brother had a V60 brew and myself a long black whilst Mum opted for a tea. My long black was really lovely and one of the nicest long blacks I’ve had in a café for a long time, full flavour but smooth, just about right. Food came out promptly and was well priced with generous servings. My steak sandwich was spot on, and the house made crisps were really quite nice(if interesting to look at!) and I was impressed with the quality. I can certainly recommend this place for lunch but the breakfast menu wasn’t entirely appealing to me(I do have weird food preferences which make breakfast difficult, so don’t hold that against this place). They have a fantastic sweets selection and with their fabulous coffee on offer, I really need to come back here for dessert.

The title of the café thrilled me, a quote from Shakespeare I had to check it out! So when my friends invited me for brunch there I jumped(despite rocking a very hungover self) I could only stomach a coffee and watched as my friends devoured some tasty brunch. Unfortunately the coffee was terrible, being an ex barista and trainer of the art of coffee making I had high expectations of the coffee here. Unfortunately I was very let down, the coffee was bitter and had a funky taste(I could blame that my palette may not have been in the greatest shape after the many tequilas the night before so I left it) I also left with a takeaway coffee(I wanted to give it a second chance) this time I received an equally disgusting coffee and it wasn’t until I got home I realised it was made with cows milk. I haven’t had coffee with diary in a very long time, I find firstly that I am allergic to diary and secondly I find soy compliments the coffee. So I was very disappointed. But I didn’t want to write this place off on one experience so I went back with a friend and had poached eggs on toast with a side of hollandaise and avocado. It was Devine I have never had such a delicious hollandaise in my life. The eggs were perfectly done and the avocado was not stingy. The presentation of the food was beautiful as well. My friend had the trout and he enjoyed it as well. But. Sadly a but. I found one of the waiters appalling rude. I had asked who was on the coffee machine because of my terrible previous experience. And wanted to make sure it was what I would remember about this place, great food, bad coffee. The waiter(I believe he is the manager) responded by literally walking away and ignoring our table for 20 minutes before somebody finally took our food order. Being an ex manager of a couple of Cafes I would never treat a customer like this. So owners if you read this I trust you will have a word with the manager about his rude behaviour I was ready to walk out watching him stand behind the coffee bar just relaxing chatting to another waiter blatantly ignoring us. Finally we ordered a lovely young blonde man took our order and the food came very quickly. And to the girl who made my coffee thank you. It was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. To all the wait staff except the manager thank you for a lovely meal and coffee. My rating would be 5 star if this man hadn’t treated us so poorly. Food 10⁄10 coffee(round 3) 8⁄10 service for the older waiter −10÷10 but for all the other servers 10⁄10 atmosphere 10⁄10 If the owners of this wonderful restaurant read this I would be happy to talk to you about that one waiter. Part two, I returned for their incredible hollandaise however was disappointed with my meal, both mine and my friends poached eggs were over cooked, tiny and sunshine yellow(which normally indicates caged eggs). Would be interested to know where they get their produce from?

This is a pretty special destination and just on the outside of city. This is great for the venue as it means parking is better. It’s also quite peaceful as well. A large Venue decorated in modern décor, and some space outdoors for groups. Love the booths in the far back corner. The staff are super friendly here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and seated. At all times you feel welcomed and you know that you will be looked after. I love a all day breakfast menu. I saw a picture of the gin cured trout and knew that was what I had to order before I arrived. It was just so pretty! I was right, it was almost to pretty to eat. I couldn’t bare digging into it without taking a few snaps. The trout was cured well. I feel like it could have been cured a little longer to have a deeper flavour. Maybe more salt and sugar was needed. But, that does not mean that it was not tasty! It was really lovely. The egg was poached well, crème fraîche was a great edition and lifted the dish. An added surprise was the sea greens. I really loved them. I think that not many people are used to them, but they are really tasty. The carrots were nice, but felt a little out of place. I think what the dish needed was a sauce. The crème fraîche was great, but something with a deeper flavour or seasoning. The rest of the menu looked great! I look forward to test more items. In fact, be sure to try out the coffee. I think we may have another great coffee destination in Adelaide. They offer a couple of filter options and cold drip. I am looking forward to watch how this business develops!

Good little café with great coffee. Perhaps not located in the best part of Adelaide but still enjoyable and pleasant surroundings. The staff were amazing and very welcoming and friendly especially when I walked in not knowing they actually were about to close for the day!

Unfortunately I have to knock a star off… this café is near my work place and after a few visits, my overall impression is that the coffees and service have not been consistent. Hopefully these are just teething issues.

Don’t come here if you’re on a schedule. My partner and I have been here twice for breakfast. The first time was shortly after they opened, so some procedural issues are understandable. As a result of the slow service they gave us some coffee vouchers for next time. All good, I look forward to seeing this place when you’ve got a rhythm going. We returned again this morning as my partner had a training course nearby and this is one of the very rare times I’ve walked out of a place without eating. We arrived at the same time as a business group of about 14 who had obviously booked(the table was set up for them). We sat down and our coffee order was taken. More than 20 minutes later, we still hadn’t had our food order taken so I went up to the bar and asked if we could place it please. As I stood there I noticed one of the waiting staff taking orders from the big table. Me: «I’ve been waiting over 20 minutes for someone to take our order, can you send someone over please?». Coffee Guy: «Sorry sir, as you can see, we have a huge table over there». Dude, you were expecting them. Plus, there are only 2 of us and we arrived and were seated before they all were. What your staff should have done was give us the opportunity to make sure our order was taken and pushed through the kitchen first — this breakfast meeting was bound to go on for a while and I’ve never seen a group of 14 or so make up their minds quickly. 5 minutes later, someone came to take our order. Again they apologised for the big table. Did I mention the big table was expected? Another 20 minutes later and our meals hadn’t arrived. My partner had 5 minutes to leave so she wouldn’t be late. We called someone over and he said he’d check. He came back and said«Kitchen says it’ll be another 4 minutes, sorry about the delay — we were slammed by a big table coming in». «Tell them to forget it, we don’t have time anymore». I went up to pay for the coffees and they offered them free as an apology. So I didn’t need to use the vouchers from the last time they were sorry for the service. Almost an hour after we walked in, we were walking out without being fed. From memory of the first time, the food is quite nice. The coffee is good, so if we go back it’ll be for a leisurely free cuppa, not a meal when we have other stuff on.

Guys, I’m a massive fan of this place. From the detail spent on the space through to the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans, I’ve not had a poor experience yet. Tucked away in Wright street, a journey here is well worth it.

A bright, casual café not far from the Adelaide Central Market. The staff are friendly and easy going. After enjoying a quick coffee on a Sunday morning we came back at the earliest opportunity for breakfast. I found the menu to be well thought out and contemporary, with the dishes appearing from the kitchen making the choice even harder! As a muesli aficionado I chose the Almond milk soaked Bircher Muesli which was visually pleasing, full of interesting flavours and embellished with hazelnuts, blueberries and apricots, while the Smoky house baked beans with Barossa feta was described as «a hearty, simple dish, enhanced by the addition of a poached egg». Definitely will be back to work our way through the menu as soon as possible.

What more can I say than«wow»! I had myself one delicious brunch in this busy and gorgeous new establishment on Wright Street. It was a tough decision to make when choosing what to order as there were so many tempting options on the menu but I am so happy that I went with the Gin Cured Ocean Trout because it was delicious — and oh so pretty to boot! The staff were super friendly and there were so many tempting items on the menu and in the cake cabinet that left me convinced that I will soon need to return. Our food and drinks(my friend ordered the fresh squeezed grape-fruit juice which was a nice addition to standard orange juice) came out in a good amount of time, considering how insanely busy they were! I only have one whinge and that is ‘no split bills’ — which always kills me because it can be a pain when getting together with a group but otherwise, no complaints here! Excellent for long weekend brunches, this will now be my go-to choice when I find myself on this side of town — and I don’t think I could think of a better place to write about for my 300th review!
