Had a craving for ramen and upon discovering my partner had never had, a date was made. Thanks to be reviews on Unilocal,Ryo’s Noodles was chosen. Upon entering we were shown to our table and our drinks order taken. Shortly after this we were ordering our food. I opted for the pork and my partner selected the chicken. When our meals arrived a short time later I was very pleased. The flavours were immense bit well balanced and the noodles were nothing less than perfect. The servings were generous and neither of us were able to finish our meals. At less than $ 35 for both of us including a drink, the prices were quite reasonable. The best thing, my partner loved her meal so we have a new covert!!!

On a cold, rainy night there is nothing better than a big bowl of Ramen to warm you up. When you enter Ryo’s you’re don’t be surprised if it’s at full capacity. My first visit there definitely did not disappoint. The staff are friendly and immediately seated us and provided us menus. I ordered the spicy pork ramen and vegetable tempura which was all served quite efficiently given it was a bustling Friday night. The combination of flavours and presentation were pulled off perfectly and definitely warmed and filled me up. The ramen had just the right amount of spice, noodles and meat that none of the flavours were over powering one another but mixed in perfectly with the next. The tempura was a combination of thinly sliced pumpkin, zucchini and broccoli fried deliciously to provide a lovely side dish for the spicy soup. The food was served in large portions and the tempura and a big bowl of Ramen cost me $ 22 which I was quite happy paying given the scrumptious tastes, friendly staff and wonderful ambience of the restaurant. Finally the location could not be better — on Gouger street right next to markets, the perfect place to recharge after picking up some bargains.

This restaurant is a combination of great food, great value and great ambiance. Ryo’s specialises in ramen, offering over a dozen different ramens ranging from pork broth and miso soup, to crispy chicken entrees and takoyaki. The takoyaki, which is battered octopus balls usually served as an entrée, are the highlight of the entrée menu and are a must try if you go there. Prices for dinner range from $ 15-$ 22 and lunch ranges from $ 10-$ 16, which is great value for this hearty Japanese cuisine. If you find yourself strolling down Gouger street on a cold winter night, stop by Ryo’s and have a bowl of ramen with takoyaki on the side

UPDATE8÷12÷15: Went back again because the weather was better. I ordered the recommended Pork ramen in Soy based soup. I forgot to ask for extra noodles because I was 100% starving but oh well. For 3 people, the service was snappy and all three bowls came out at the same time. The first thing I checked was the noodles(after photo of course). It was cooked to perfection and now I really like this place because of that. The broth is more akin to the usual thin broth, it was a tad on the salty side but I don’t mind too much– it wasn’t overly salty. The soft boiled egg is a treat because usually it’s hardboiled at other places. Again, reasonable price at $ 14.50. Friendly, warm and fast service(from a cute waitress, actually there’s a few!). I won’t give it a 5 yet because I’ve only been twice but it’s very promising. Good place, definitely coming back a few more times!

I’ve been hitting up Ryo’s for my ramen fix since my partner brought me here in late 2014. It’s easy to miss, with the only real give-away being the red flags covering the entrance. The fit-out is similar to the other newer places on Gouger Street and the surrounding laneways — a bit hipster, fairly minimalistic and interesting lighting. There’s also multiple seating options — tables for 2, table/booth hybrids for groups of 3+ and a couple of longer bar tables for bigger groups or a collective of solo diners. Once inside, wait staff are attentive and don’t miss a beat. There is a large selection of ramen — over a dozen different types plus the specials written on paper and stuck on the wall. There are also a range of sides, such as gyoza, karaage and takoyaki. These servings are generous, and I find that two of them often fill me up. However, the ramen is always the stand out. My personal favourite is number 6 — the Tokyo-style ramen with roast pork. The broth is never too salty, and the ingredients always look fresh and taste great. One of the things I always love about Ryo’s is how the food always looks exactly like the picture. It’s colourful and beautifully presented — I kind of feel bad for destroying it. It’s also great value for money. A bowl of ramen will set you back less than $ 15, and I’ve never needed any other food when ordering a bowl. If anything, my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I have to auction off the rest to my friends! I’d definitely recommend Ryo’s as a great lunch spot or cheap dinner out.

I was sadly super underwhelmed by this place. Ramen was a little bland, meat a bit grisly, we were the only people in there on a Saturday night, which kind of killed the atmosphere, and we had to keep asking the waitress to come back and fill our tiny glasses of water when I had ordered the spicy ramen and clearly needed an entire jug to myself… Won’t go back again! I can see my review differs to others so maybe I’m not used to authentic ramen and this is how it should be??? Either way, I didn’t like it.

It was so nice getting the opportunity to try this new place. Quite a casual atmosphere, better than a café yet not upmarket like a restaurant. The menu looks very much like a fast food menu but don’t let that fool you. The side dishes of KFC(Korean fried chicken) and dumplings were delicious, and I didn’t realise that there was soy sauce in the bottle on the table until a little too late. The waitress was pleasant and replenished the complimentary bottle of water regularly. This place has a reputation for ramen, so noodles were the go. My bowl was filled to the brim, looked great and tasted just as good. Very flavoursome indeed, and well worth the visit.

Since Ryo’s opened at the end of August 2014, it’s the top place on Gouger for authentic-style ramen — for my money, the best in Adelaide. The hole-punched black metal exterior doesn’t give much away, but opens into a hip, minimalist Japanese interior with a range of seating options, including for the solo diner. The menu is brief, focused on the noodle soups, with some nice sides like karaage and gyoza. Service is quickish and appropriately attentive for this sort of joint. The miso ramen comes highly recommended!
