Phở & Bun Bo Hue are very clean and tasty, they are the best in Adelaide! As a regular customer at Thanh Thanh, well known for their Phở & Bun Bo Hue(21. Phở Tai Nam &35. Spicey Beef), lately I have sensed some changes in the strong delicious beef flavour of the broth. I have been eating Phở for many years and am very sensitive to the quality of the soup. Thanh Thanh have got their soup’s taste spot-on, not to mention their cooked beef is so tender and nice. According to the Vietnamese, Phở is the most healthy nutritious dish; I bet I can eat Phở at Thanh Thanh everyday. When looking around in the restaurant, I can see why 90% of customers are having soups. Yummy :)

Yep. Believe the reviews and the ranking. Best Vietnamese I have had in Adelaide. Big serves, prompt service, good wine by the bottle, will be back here on a regular basis.

Had a family get together here for lunch on a Sunday when many surrounding options were closed. Staff were attentive and friendly and made a special effort with the kids in our group(always appreciated). Prices are very reasonable and portions generous. I didn’t try any of the entrees because we were late arriving. I had the fresh beef phở(noodle soup) which came with a side plate heaped with fresh herbs, crunchy bean sprouts and sliced red chillies to add to my taste. The fresh(uncooked) beef cooked as it was stirred through the hot soup, resulting in tender and tasty meat. I was heavy handed with the herbs and sprouts but opted to do without the chilli. The flavour was fresh, if slightly understated, although perhaps it really needs that chilli to kick it up a notch? You have the option to order extra meat for a small extra charge, but I was quite satisfied with the quantity of meat in my regular portion. Washed it all down with their fresh lemon soda which is house made and deliciously refreshing(stir it well). Affordable, filling lunch and friendly service.

Thanh-Thanh is our ultimate go to for a Phở fix. We also enjoy the chicken Maryland and noodles served with the soup on the side. The quail is generous and juicy, not shriveled and dry like you can get at other Vietnamese places. We also enjoy the make your own rice paper rolls — delish! The wine and beer list is good, prices equal value for money and atmosphere is warm, clean and friendly.

love the phở(beef noodle); stayed in the neighborhood for 2 nights and tried #18(combo) and #19(beef slices), plus the wonton soup(#2 appetizer)… all the selection taste great… bottom-line: will come back again. ratings that matter — food(5⁄5), service(4.5÷5).

I really was hoping for some killer bun bo hue(spicy pork and beef noodle soup) but it did not meet my expectations. I had read the reviews and saw that it was also recommended by the restaurant. First off, it is not spicy! Bun bo hue comes from the area of Hue in Vietnam(hence the name). You traditionally eat it with pig’s feet but I know that might be a bit much for most people so when mine came with a few pork slices, I understood. The broth itself wasn’t as red as I would have liked and it needed a lot more fish sauce to bring the flavor up to par. The noodles had mostly small noodles but a few large noodles were in my bowl that were too tough to chew. They were actually hard so I took it out of my bowl. My fresh vegetables that came out had bean sprouts, herbs, lime, and red peppers. The red peppers were hot which I was pleased with. I needed more lime though and the staff were kind to bring it out for me. They were attentive and I appreciated that. I wasn’t impressed with what I ordered but the restaurant was pretty packed with all different clientele from young professionals to families. The location is easy to find and I was hoping to have a meal that reminded me of my Mom’s. That’s quite hard to do so the restaurant gets higher marks for service and ambience but the food didn’t make it.

Awesome. Came here for a feed after reading the reviews. Place was pretty full and the food did not disappoint. Had the cold rolls and beef phở with a few 333’s. Quick service and very well priced. Will be back when I am back in Adelaide.

Visited this place a few days ago for lunch. I like how it is hidden away from the Market masses. Funky diner-like decoration, large space, a tad noisy because of the excitement of the customers as they waited, slurped and ate their food. Had the phở, which was quite nice — very delicate flavours, more than what I was used to. Reasonably priced and overall a great experience. Pay them a visit and you will leave with a smile and a full belly

Great place for a quick lunch away from food halls n this is restaurant which provides service for the same price! Glad that the hot weather disappeared n cold enough for a nice bowl of phở. The freshly cut chillies had some bite to it on this visit, I would not put any sauce in the phở soup as if u want heat u should have ordered the spicy soup The thinly sliced beef cooks in the hot broth n that’s just perfect with heaps of crunchy bean sprout. Pity that the stalks of Thai basil were bit tough on this occasion Very satisfying lunch indeed

Went last night. This place has some really good Vietnamese food and it’s very well priced. My girlfriend had the Vietnamese salad and very much enjoyed it. For main she had the salt and pepper squid, and said it was some of the very best S&P Squid she has ever had. I had the fried dim sims for a starter. They were delish, served with a side of chilli oil. For main I had the pork and rice combination. That’s Pork done three ways, with rice and a egg. Tremendous! I definitely need to go back and try there Poh. In my opinion this would be the best Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in Adelaide with great prices to match.

One of my favourite restaurants, Thanh Thanh it has good food, in large portions, at low prices. I can never decide between Phở and Roast Pork and Vermicelli, but I’m never disappointed.

If you like spicy food, go for the spicy beef and pork noodle soup. Perfect for a cold winters day.

Located in the Chinatown is such a huge plus since its just so convenient. Thanh Thanh, in my opinion, is the most decent Vietnamese restaurant around that area. They also offer a wide variety of dishes with reasonable price. The place is often packed but still there’s always a few free seats so that you rarely have to wait. The service is OK quite slow during lunch hour but thats acceptable. Every once in a while I would encounter a grumpy waiter but well who doesn’t have bad days? With all that advantages why did I give it a 3? The thing is that the food there is just OK, it’s neither extremely good nor bad, its just an OK. Given the fact that I know how most of the authentic dishes taste like, this place can get a 5 or 6 on the scale of 10. Every restaurant has their best dishes that makes you come back every once in a while but there isn’t anything like that in Thanh Thanh for me. I would still recommend this place though.

For a CBD quick phở fix, Thanh Thanh is your place to go. Hidden in a laneway, this phở joint also offers dishes from other cuisines, but why bother when they have phở? The meaty broth is not quite as good as the ones you’ll get in Springvale, Melbourne, but for Adelaide CBD, it’s as good as it gets. Definitely capable of scratching that phở itch! The custard apple smoothie is to die for, and the vietnamese coffee has my nod of approval too. The service is fairly efficient too, which is always good. I do think that it can get a little hard to hear yourself in Thanh Thanh. Being asian, it’s typically noisy. So go here if you want phở, but avoid bringing your first date here unless it’s a blind date and you don’t want to talk to them!

Time and time again I’ve told about fantastic Vietnamese joints in the Western suburbs(and sometimes the Northern suburbs, unfortunately very rarely down South), but the thing is I don’t drive and often am stuck in the CBD when I get a craving for phở. Enter Thanh Thanh. Sure, it’s not as cheap as the phở we used to get at the bottom of my apartment building in Vietnam, but I still love it. The plate of fresh herbs, the chilis, the sauces, the meaty broth. Everything is good. It might not be the best, but my tastebuds have never complained. Of course, it’s not just a phở joint, Thanh Thanh has a pretty full Vietnamese menu. As well the phở I’m a little star struck by the green papaya salad, Asian salads have a special place in my heart, and this one ticks all the right boxes. If you’re after CBD Vietnamese this couldn’t be more recommend. Also, make sure you try their smoothies, especially the custard apple. I’ve tried re-creating it at home, and I’ve got a long way to go.

I tried this place for the first time after reading the rad reviews by all you guys on here, and I was impressed. All the right boxes were ticked: friendly staff, chilled atmosphere, CHEAP as anything and major portion sizes. I mean, for real. Next time I go I am ordering one main between two people, it was daunting even *looking* at the sheer enormity of the meal sizes! The food is more of a Chinese take on Vietnamese, with lots of familiarly Chinese items on the menu. I had the fried dim sum(oh lord, the sauce!) and lemongrass chilli chicken, which rated about a 1 on the chilli scale, but was otherwise yum. Homestyle, hearty Vietnamese at a rad price. Get involved!

I visited Thanh-Thanh for the first time on Tuesday and was absolutely blown away. I had seen it hiding down that little alley way that is Field Street, and had been meaning to hit it up for some time. Finally that opportunity arose. I was pretty much in it for the Phở, which is probably my favorite Vietnamese dish and I wanted to see where they ranked. They pretty much topped the town. There was a number of different options available, which for starters was welcome change. I almost regret now not being a bit more adventurous and ordering ordering one the more special phở’s on offer, such as the combination which included tripe and meatballs. However, the fresh beef slice phở which I ordered was really too good to complain about. Served with a plate of fresh beenshoots, coriander, basil and a big bowl of fresh chili(which i might add was perfectly temperatured) the fragrant broth was delicious and the lightly cooked meat was juicy and tender. There was chili sauce on the table which I tried separate to the phở to see what it was like. It had that characteristic peanut taste that is present everywhere other than china town café and which I find a bit unpleasant. An oddity I noticed was the service of the cutlery of which I have uploaded a photo. Between the two of us we were presented with one western fork, one western spoon a set of chopsticks and an asian style soup spoon aesthetically arranged, but with no concordance as to which implement belonged to whom. Don’t know whether this is some sort of cultural tradition or just an all bases covered approach, either way it was quite amusing.
