The Alberton is a reasonably priced pub and has a great dinner menu. It’s somewhat unusual for a pub in that it has a fairly large selection of Asian and Indian food, and said food is surprisingly(for a pub) quite good! It’s not the best value for money, but definitely not the worst — you’re getting a good feed in a nice, quiet suburban pub, and their menu is so expansive that you’ll find something on there that hits the right spot for you. A few of the dishes are fairly anemically served, eg the chicken parmy comes out with a smattering of chips and your schnitzel, no salads or associated — but that is remedied by the open buffet which comes with a fairly good selection of veg. I’ll be back, but infrequently as there are better choices for most things on the menu elsewhere — The Alberton is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none.

Being a Port Power supporter I am surprised that I never went out of my way to have a beer at this pub. However when I did come up here I discovered that the Port Club is just around the corner at Alberton Oval. However that does not necessarily mean that this pub is off the list because it still has a large Port Adelaide magpie sitting prominently above the sign. As a pub it is a pretty standard suburban pub though they are currently extending the beer garden. However it it wasn’t for its location I probably would only ever come here once just to check it out. What I want to do now is to come back here when the Power is playing interstate to check out the atmosphere(especially if they end up winning).
