I’ve only ever come in here to pick up cords or to buy a new modem for the family, and Aldgate Computers creeps me way out. It’s a cliché for a computer business to be kind of odd and off centre, and these guys adhere to the stereotype. They have plenty of accessories on the shelf for all your home network needs and are more than willing to help you with your problems. Occasionally you get the odd condescending computer guy curtly explaining the difference between a USB and firewire cable, but that’s par for the course in this industry. I imagine it would be pretty frustrating having customers stumble in not entirely of what they need or how it works. Their prices are a little high here and the service isn’t spectacular, but it’s the only store of it’s kind around for miles.

These guys definitely saw me coming. There was this onetime I needed a usb for school, granted this was about 6 years ago now but still, and so I went to Aldgate Computers. I got charged $ 40 for a 1gig usb, then I found out that you could get them for $ 10 at Woolworths, ouch. In saying that though, these guys are great for computer repairs, if you have a problem with a hard drive or something just bring it on in and they do the rest, and surprisingly for a reasonable price. Laptops too, I took mine in there recently when I wasn’t able to turn it on anymore. Wellll the staff here certainly have magic fingers because she was purring again in no time! If you need some know-how then definitely stop though, but if its for discs or usbs etc. probably not the best option.
