I don’t know what Sonoma are doing or what type of waiters they employ. They seem to be doing a good job at sabotaging their own brand and empire by not having the simple foods and cakes we all love. You can’t seem to have or try 3 salads on a plate as «sorry it’s not allowed«what is this world coming to? I visited this café around 12:30pm for lunch looking to go to a nice place with good food I was starving instead my hospitality was served indifferently. The glass cabinet hardly had anything except for a few cherry scrolls and sandwiches and salads that I wanted to try but could not. This was also the case for their ginger cake which they no longer do, months in fact. It amazes me they remove such nice items such as that famous ginger cake while they still try and work out what to put in empty glass not so inviting display cabinets. Lucky they don’t play around or delete or remove the success of their beautiful breads so why do it to things that everyone likes to enjoy? I also can’t justify almost $ 28 for a soft drink 2 cakes and a yogurt leaving hungry and frustrated never to go back EVER again. I hope my genuine feed back here helps others decide whether they should dine in such a non hospitable venue let alone pay good money that serves nothing but rude service. I ended up going to Bourke St Bakery around the corner where I was feed at least but still feeling annoyed about my experience in Sonoma.

Wondered what all the hype was about so gave these guys a try whilst driving through Alexandria. Grabbed an apricot danish, coffee éclair and a coffee. The éclair was pretty good, danish so-so. The coffee on the other hand, was thoroughly disappointing. Undrinkable in fact! The coffee bean itself(in my humble opinion) lacked flavour, and textually, the coffee was watery. I don’t think I’ve had a coffee that bad in quite some time(in fact, as much as I hate wasting food — I threw out the coffee after a few sips). The décor and ambiance was quite nice, the staff were friendly enough, and the dishes that were being served certainly looked tasty. So I can’t really talk about the dining experience. My rating is based purely on the coffee.

Friendly staff, good food and coffee was great! If you happen to be shopping at Peter of Kensington warehouse and need a break just go to Sonoma bakery. Great customer service: the cashier misunderstood my order and had added one item. When the waitress arrived with the extra item and realised we didn’t order it she happily refunded us without any questions!

$$ — Good for tourists or those who like a upmarket, trendy bakery with high reputation. Fruit toast with feta, cinnamon and honey is why I would come back & take friends there for breakfast, It’s Amazing! But at the moment it’s hard to rate because there are so many bakeries and restaurants in the area who do similar, if not better coffees/breads & hot meals. I think I only give this place a 3.5 star because I see potential for it having friendly Barista’s, a range of hot food and décor that doesn’t seem a little cold. I know, its not meant for food or perhaps its appart of the upmarket image. but it feels like your going to pay allot of money for being in that type of environment and when you get standard food, I feel a little short changed by the end. I think its targeted for stop over tourists(near the airport) or wealthy mums who do yoga nexdoor. It’s great for group meetings as theres always room to sit and chat and I love how they do paypass, embrace technology and give you half an hour wifi once you ask and figure out log in settings. Maybe it could be a little warmer, with a rug or wood/cane light lamps, still making it look spacious but welcoming to the locals when times are less busy?.. Or perhaps a specials board out front(cause it could look like a unwelcoming tourist trap). Also provide discounts for locals(iphone app or card) /bread deals etc, I do reccomend checking it out, perhaps you’d rate higher and It could be my personal preference. I rate this 6.5÷10.

Great coffee scrambled eggs soft and fluffy. Oven roasted tomatoes are perfect.
