Hahndorf’s Fine Chocolates own a number of branches scattered across Melbourne. This is my local, and my favourite of the other branches that I’ve tried. When I was in year 12 my mum used to take me to Hahndorf’s once a week for a hot chocolate and a break after study. The staff got to know us so well that we were the guinea pigs for several new chocolates and we always felt welcome inside the little store. You can’t beat service like that. Walk the rows of chocolates and have a look at the wares. Favourites include the hazelnut praline and peanut butter chocolates. Hahndorf’s sell gift boxes, hampers, slabs and individual morsels that are perfect for a present or special occasion. When you order a drink you are offered a complimentary chocolate, make sure you get the run down of the full range before making your decision as there’s always new flavours. The coffee and hot chocolate are okay, but not as special as other boutique chocolate stores in Melbourne. The milkshakes, on the other hand are brilliant. Creamy and smooth, they are a meal in a glass. Hit Hahndorf’s and get a milkshake and chocolate. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are the best.
