I personally don’t have much complaints about this RSL. Yes… it’s similar to most local RSL clubs but the buffet here is fantastic — it never fails to satisfy me. I’ve only visited a few RSL clubs in my entire life(yet) so please don’t quote me on this, but I found that there is a wider variety of dishes served at the Seven Hills Toongabbie RSL Club in comparison to others I’ve been to. Here’s why: 1. Traditional homemade style meals(i.e. roast beef or pork with steamed vegetables) 2. Salad bar(variety of vegetables and dressing) 3. Soup bar(similar to other RSL clubs) 4. Chinese dishes * Roast duck * BBQ pork(Hong Kong style) * Chinese roast pork * Marinated [boiled] * Dim sims and a variety of dumplings * Congee with matching fried bread sticks (Far out… I used to have to go to Chinatown for this!) * Stir fries and some others like deep fried crab 5. A separate sushi bar(or should I say«train») 6. Dessert bar(I usually try to hog most of the crème brules) Fellow diners seem to eat at peace — probably because I usually went there during the afternoon when the majority of diners were elderly people(but keep in mind that RSL clubs are mostly their territories). Just kidding(and no disrespect). There’s not much children to be seen whenever I go — ideal for those who abhor dining with children being around. But that’s not to say that I haven’t seen a single child or that the place isn’t family friendly. Overall… This place has that nice ‘small town’ atmosphere and they usually try to engage the members of the club with certain promotions. Their current promotion is to give away a ginormous Easter egg(and I literally mean ‘gi-freaking-normous’) for Easter. I wish that I’ve taken a photo of it. It’s just that my attention was more fixated on this gun they used during WW1(lol).

Clubs can be genuinely awesome, great for all the wrong reasons, completely average or utterly crap. Seven Hills RSL fits into the completely average tier on the clubland scale. The buffet is popular, bookings are essential and on weekends both seafood sessions often sell out. The sushi train is a novelty in the west and probably one of the most exciting features of the entire club. There is nothing exceptional about the rest of the Buffet, it’s just another Sydney Club all you can eat number, while it has a reasonable variety of food the allergy friendly aspect is virtually non-existent unless you want to stick to salad sans dressing or fresh fruit. I should cut the club some slack though, after all it is the venue responsible for what will be a lifelong karaōke addiction. Unfortunately Friday night karaōke hasn’t been happening at Sevo RSL for quite a few years now… in fact(not counting the incredible display of animalistic behavior at the buffet) the entertainment on offer at this particular establishment leaves much to be desired. Not even a stop on the cover band circuit, Seven Hills RSL seems to have it’s own rotating roster of bands that don’t and never have played anywhere else. If you are looking for a cheap and fun night out, Seven Hills Toongabbie RSL isn’t going to provide that for you, it’s the kind of club that requires you to make your own fun. If you are the kind of person who loves an all you can eat buffet, gets a thrill from stacking plates with prawns and lobster, sampling five different flavors of jelly or making sky high ice cream Sundays then this is the club for you.
