Gyms: Lycra, leotards, pumping music and mostly people who look like they don’t need to be there. No wonder this three letter word instills terror in the hearts of many an ordinary citizen. Fear not under-exercised people of Perth! I(you may call me savior, the great one, whatever) have the answer. That answer lies not in a three letter word but rather three words: Exercise for Life. This place is a gym but it offers much more than a gym and in many ways is the antithesis of your stereotypical gym. For starters, only university trained exercise physiologists are employed here. Their knowledge is extensive and they can help with seemingly unsolvable problems. The small yet effective gym also has a very personal feel to it and I’ve found every staff member shows a genuine interest and concern for their patrons. It’s not showy and the interior is akin to a PCYC club I used to attend in the 90s. Blaring music is for another time and place and parading patrons wearing practically nothing can’t be found here. Most are laid back and simple exercise t-shirts and shorts seem to be the order of the day. The crowd is predominantly older, interspersed with a few on the younger side. This place costs only marginally more than your average gym and the attention, help and quality service you receive make those extra few bucks more than worthwhile. Donna is particularly skilled, helpful and compassionate so see if you can have a chat to her when you give them a call.
