When I get the occasional craving for peking duck, Simon’s comes to mind. Can’t go wrong with around $ 60 per duck for 3 courses and tea(good for 2 – 3 ppl). Came here recently to celebrate a friends bday. The pancake was a bit too thin and soggy this time around but the duck itself was amazing as always! We chose the handmade noodle option for our second course and you could taste the freshness of those noodles, yummo! The soup was hearty and satisfying, even took some to go coz couldn’t finish it all. Anyhoo, as mentioned, the reason for dining here was to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and while Simon himself did not grace us with his presence, his other staff were equally as entertaining and funny, especially once they knew we were there for a bday. The manager(I think?) caught sight of our present for the bday girl, and let’s just say, because it was a bit provocative, his comments caused my friend to turn bright red(same colour as the gift haha) and the evening turned into a non-stop giggle fest! The icing on the cake was when we received a complimentary serve of banana fritter with two large scoops of ice-cream. On either side! I personally think its great when you’re in a busy restaurant and staff are still able to share jokes and laughs with their customers in between serving… it makes the whole experience more memorable :)

Basic décor but this place is always packed, which is a testament to the awesome food and value. The duck is crisp to perfection and the handmade pancakes are awesome. There could be more condiments offered(greens), but the handmade noodles more than makes up for it. You also get a soup made from the bones. You can also ask for a bag/or two of carcasses, which my mum did to make soup at home with. My go to duck place now.

Everything was cooked to perfection with tender crispy Peking duck served by Simon. Excellent service, theatrical duck preparation and reasonably priced.

Friendly environment, tasty food and reasonable price. Can’t ask for more. If you go there have the duck and you can’t go wrong.

Firstly walking into this cheerful place you are surrounded by laughter and Simon himself cracking jokes. Quickly seated and served the duck was fantastic, pancakes some of the best could hardly fit the soup after the tasty noodles. Fully recommend especially for the wonderful price! One duck was plenty for 2 big eaters!

Excellent place for dinner — me and a big bunch of friends popped in for a get-together and thoroughly enjoyed the Peking duck and accompaniments. Yum!

I must admit, that I’ve had better Peking duck in Melbourne, BUT when I factor in the price(CHEAP) and the atmosphere(authentic and delightfully frenetic) I know that ill be back here the next time I get a craving for duck. Worth adding, even if the food wasn’t solid, I’d be back for the performance of the restaurants namesake. Part Miyagi, part Elvis, 100% entertaining, the man loves what he does and makes dinner at his place much more than the sum of its parts. Bring CASH, bring your best bottle of Pinot, avoid the noodles and go the been shoots to finish. Enjoy! Xo

Went here last night for dinner as my partner had been craving duck for ages. We ordered the duck obviously, we were served almost immediately! It was $ 55 for a whole duck and two other dishes. Service was great, waiters all attentive and quite funny. The duck pancakes were beautiful and the chef that came out to serve it showed me how to wrap the perfect pancake. There was a noodle dish to follow that was nice but was similar to a food court type dish and the soup afterwards was average, bits of tofu and what looked like chicken but had bones in it. All in all, if you’re looking for great duck, go here and get the pancakes.
