Buffets are part of any(or should be part of any) casino experience. But having said that, don’t expect the experience here at the Treasury Casino to match any casino in Las Vegas. In fact, I’d say this one wouldn’t even match the Gold Strike Buffet in Tunica, MS. But having said that, it’s not bad. It’s just a different level and you have to adjust your expectations given where you are at and what you are used to. It does tend to close on the early side outside of weekends(and even then it closes at 9:30pm). In this case on a Sunday the closing time was 9pm. As for food selection this is where it pales into comparison with casino buffets you might see in Las Vegas. The food area is not very large and is relatively dimly lit. The dessert area seemed to take up about ¼th of the options which is good if you are a big dessert fan though I did not check out the selection carefully. I did note they seemed to have a decent scoop(not soft serve) ice cream selection. As far as other food, there were decent selections from the carved meat area(roast duck and lamb). Nearby there was also an area that had a decent beef filet in a chimichurri sauce. I was expecting it to be way overcooked and tough but it wasn’t. I would say it was more medium well and still tender. There was also a Indian butter chicken option as well as barramundi which was pretty good. In the cold section they had out raw oysters and peal and eat shrimp. These 2 items weren’t the best. I do wonder how much of the fish or shellfish was leftover from the weekend seafood dinner buffet they had the nights before. The oysters didn’t look that fresh but they didn’t make me sick either. The shrimp wasn’t worth the effort to shell given their quality. Again, nothing was spoiled but it’s not a quality level of seafood you’d expect in say LV. The drinking glasses are a bit small so you find yourself having to maybe refill your own glass fairly often. The salad/vegetable options didn’t look like anything special or attractive so I skipped it for the most part mostly because it was close to closing time(I mentioned the early closing hours) and it seemed I was being a bit rushed. Though it did feel a bit rushed I would say the servers were for the most part friendly. Overall, while still worth a try maybe at least once, I’d say it’s okay but nothing to make a special effort for nor is it memorable. And certainly don’t expect anything like the casino buffets in Vegas. Visited: March 2015 Food: a mixed **½ Décor: ** Atmosphere: ** Service: ***

Who doesn’t love a good buffet? When you feel like throwing caution, portion control, and the top button of jeans to the wind a buffet is all you need. Because I don’t go to buffets often(does anyone?), I always get really excited about it. I think it’s a hangover from the rare treat of a trip to Sizzler as a kid. Usually it was someone’s birthday party and we’d end up sticking jelly beans into our nostrils and making gross concoctions that the poor staff must have had to clean up(hindsight is 20/20, as they say. I am SO sorry, 90s Sizzler staff). When a friend decided to have her birthday lunch at Blackjacks Buffet, I couldn’t RSVP fast enough. An excuse to go to a buffet! I’d never been to Blackjacks but figured that if it was at the Casino it was bound to be good(the buffet at the Gold Coast Casino is AMAZING). I put on a sack-shaped dress and geared up to get my smörgåsbord on. Unfortunately, Blackjacks was underwhelming. I have high expectations when it comes to buffets, perhaps, but the food here was fairly boring both in selection and flavour. The environment isn’t particularly pleasant because it’s very closed in and lacks daylight or windows. Buffets are a rare treat and if I’m going to treat myself to one, I want it to be better than okay. As a casino buffet, Blackjacks should be awesome but it’s basically on par with Sizzler which would be fine if it weren’t double the price. And they don’t have cheese toast either.

My family were really into buffets when I was growing up. The saddest day in my hometown of Newcastle was when the Sizzlers closed down. So, despite the fact that I actually prefer someone to bring me my food, I do enjoy the occasional buffet. I had some family visiting from Newcastle recently and Blackjacks seemed like the perfect place to go. They had a decent range of what you would expect; salads, pasta prawns, bacon and sausages. It was a little cramped as there was 6 of us crammed into a booth. It made getting up and down to get your food a little ridiculous, especially for the two of us in the seats next to the wall. Aside from that, the food was good and overall it is was an enjoyable night.
