Breadtop to Australia is what 85C is to Taiwan and Sheng Kee to California. The ultimate Chinese bakery, surpassing any American bakery in quality and flavor. Why chomp on muffins and donuts when you can have delicious, relatively healthy buns that come in 20+ varieties? Although this location is small, they had all of the typical choices and then some. The coconut bun and custard bun are both fantastic. Not too sweet, but so aromatic with every bite. There’s plenty more to choose from. They seem to never run out, because we came right before closing and selection was still plentiful. What makes this store stand out is their generosity. Because we came before closing, they gave us two buns for free. I’m guessing the rest of the buns would probably be tossed or given to workers, but they could have easily kept it all for themselves and not given any to us. Pretty nice of them. Maybe it’s just the Australian way of life.
