I love boats. I have a very minor fear of being in the water but I adore being on it. I was lucky to have my birthday here, a present from my sister. It was lovely experience. Outside you see Brisbane go by slowly while you enjoy the cool air. When I went, there weren’t too many people so we could have a conversation without having to yell. I have seen it when it’s full and it even looks like fun then. It’s quite popular and has been for years with good reason. Depending on your budget, this can be a little expensive but I think it’s actually reasonable for the experience. Much like Melbourne and its tram diner, the paddle boat is Brisbane’s quirky dinner experience. I would recommend you try it out sometime for a special occassion or otherwise.

The Kookaburra river Queen is a great dining option for tourists or for locals who wish to view their own city from the river. If you want to do something a bit different than dine at a restaurant, why not go to a restaurant on a boat! The Kookaburra River Queen boats are those old-style paddle boats, a real treat to go on and exciting for people of all ages. These boats will cruise around the Brisbane river while you dine on the buffet and watch the view from the windows; there is also a lovely deck to get a better view of the city. On occasion, they will be some live music for you to enjoy too. Going on the Kookaburra River Queen boats is not cheap, but it is something you would not do too often either. They have special buffets during the holidays and can get pretty popular, so make sure you buy your tickets in advance. Every time I go on one of the Kookaburra River Queen boats, I am reminded of how beautiful Brisbane is which is why I would recommend it to any tourist.

Tthis is an oldie but a goodie. The two Kookaburra Queen replica paddle steamers have been plying the city reaches of the river for a couple of decades now and always seem to do plenty of business. It’s very pleasant to cruise along watching your city go by as you sip champagne and down an oyster or three. Prices range from about $ 40 — $ 80 adult for lunch and dinner buffets(not including drinks) depending on the occasion and the kind of buffet, or you can just cruise and buy food and drinks on board. The five stars are for the seafood buffet, which was absolutely outstanding, with prawns, bugs, crab, oysters, fish and the little trimmings that make eating this way so good, like handmade dill dressing and seafood sauce. The salads were fresh and interesting and at no point did the well attended buffet tables look shabby. I’d go again(wouldn’t we Mum?). A nice place to take your Mum and Dad.
