I know a lot of people adore Napoleon makeup, and I must admit one of my favourite blushes of all time came from this store. The reason I’m only giving 3 stars is due to two things. 1: for albino vampire types(I don’t drink blood but I glow in the dark) all the foundation is far too dark. Orange rings around necks are really not attractive. 2: the china doll gel eyeliner dried up instantly in its little pot. The products aren’t cheap so I was pretty cheesed off when that happened, I’m not just talking it got a little gluggy, I mean it actually dried into a solid hard lump. I’ll stick to Dior and Bobbi Brown when I feel the need for a make up splurge.

As much as I have tried to deny it, I am a huge makeup junkie. Honestly, I do not want to start thinking about how much money I have spent on makeup throughout the years. Any Ausralian makeup junkie would be familiar with Napoleon Perdis– he is of our leading makeup artists and the products that he sells justify this. Although there are many Napoleon Perdis stores around, this store is by far one of the nicer looking ones. What makes this store better than the other ones is a) the décor and b) the service. Any girly girl can not walk past the store without wanting to step inside– it just so inviting with its glass walls(so you can see right into the store) and black and gold accents. All the makeup is displayed for you to test out and play around with. The staff here are a lot more attentive than the ones who work at the suburb shopping centres. One of the girls here was really helpful; when I asked her about fake eyelashes, she recommended I try the small individual lashes as they give a much more natural lashes look. She also told me to avoid using«waterproof» mascaras as they can make your eyelashes weaker in the long run and to opt for«water resistant» mascaras instead. So what products would I recommend from here? Their primer named«Auto Pilot», their mascaras, and their foundation. There is one downside to Napoleon Perdis makeup– it is very expensive! This stops me from shopping here too often but then again, you are paying for better quality.

One of the many make up places I have seen, Napoleon is one of my absolute favourites hands down. Now you can go on and on about the different types of make up everyone has, the eco friendly, the massive lashes, the natural products… but to me, good make up, is make up that looks good when you put it on period. The girls at Napoleon have long since schooled me on how to put make up on, sure, $ 70 later I was very skilled and appreciative, but I looked good. And that is why i’ll go back there. They have a cool store, they have mega cool good quality make up, they have a cool approach to you as well.

This Napoleon Perdis shop is a favourite for me; not only does it supply the necessary products to mask all imperfections and insecurities, it provides wonderful service. The staff are always smiley and helpful, who come out from behind the counter to ask you how your day’s going and whether you need any help. Despite knowing exactly what I walk into the shop for(stock up on mascara and foundation), they still offer tips and advice for better ways to enhance my lashes and offer a foundation a shade darker(hello, sun tan!). The staff always seem to actually want to have a conversation with their customers, which makes a nice change from many retail outlets in the city. So it’s definitely a place to visit to restock your make-up and put a little spring in your step.
