Great spot for people watching! I love that it is in the middle of the mall walkway. Have tv’s for watching sports. I think rugby was on last night and it was super easy to see. I had a burger and fries. Pretty tasty. Nothing exciting but a good burger with a cold beer on a Friday is always a great way to end the work week.

Waited here for over and hour, ordered sausage and chips, calamari and chips and 2 house drinks. Was $ 51! The only menu available was the ‘special bar menu’ and was $ 15 per meal and it was smaller than a kids meal. Absolute shit. Don’t go here. Ever.

Don’t bother going, went for breakfast. Sat at a table for 15 minutes didn’t even get a menu, even thought staff walked past us on numerous occasions. Ended up walking out, really have to review training of staff.

Tried out the Squid and then the pork spring rolls. Both really tasty and served hot. I will say I really like taking the battered squid and dipping it into the sweet chili sauce of the spring rolls. Washed it down with a few sommerby’s pear ciders. All good in my tummy!

Ordered a tiramisu desert. It was terrible, had the taste and smell of the refrigerator.

I do love me a meal at Pig N Whistle but did find the Queen Street location to be lacking somewhat, both in atmosphere and service. I stopped in for a quick breakfast last week before work and they had only rostered one waitress one– she was lovely and tried her best but she was still woefully snowed under with customers. I ordered the Egg White Omelette and it was huge! I was full after only a quarter of it– pretty tasty but nothing out of the box. Their coffee is okay at best but again– nothing to write home about. Would definitely come here for an after hours drink but that’s about it.

Its a casual joint if you’re passing through but really nothing special in my book. We had a pint or two and tried their appetizers but I didn’t really find anything special. If you need a break from walking or just want somewhere to sit then go for it but I suggest walking a few more steps to a different place since the service definitely took a toll on my rating since the wait staff was not as attentive as they should and the price seemed questionable.

Yes sorta slow service but so what. Not a huge kitchen staff. This is an outdoor café type place in the Queen Street shopping district so you essentially sit outside. Good beer and draft selection and I have tried the oysters which were amazingly good and a special Moreton Bay Bug platter that had big prawns and sliced up calamari steak in a garlicly tomato sauce. All very good and the servers seemed friendly and attentive.

Unwelcoming staff. Had to find our own menu and table water. Small breakfast menu. I had the eggs benedict — menu said it came with leg ham, arrived with bacon and no explanation. Hollandaise sauce was gross — very bland and underwhelming.

The worst meal I’ve ever had, really really bad. Over priced food, rude staff, and waited 30 mins for a meals to which they replied were busy !! There is nothing I hate more than a pub saying were busy ! You’re making more money than you expected you would so we have to wait even longer. The old manger there clearly doesn’t want to be working there any more! Grumpy old man, really really bad place. Don’t go. Seriously shit !

If you’re looking for a night cap or where to watch a late night international match, this is your place. They have several beers on tap and a full bar. Location is convenient. We found a table on the exterior and an intoxicated man who was not a customer came into the bar and asked us for money. The staff didn’t really step in until we asked them to intervene after he came back a second and third time. The bathroom is not the cleanest and it’s unisex so you may have to wait and be sure you have the key as well. If you want to catch up with friends and have a good time, this would be a great place. It’s open late which is nice as well.

Worst burger I’ve ever had in my life. Not to mention it was 32 aud. My buddy had fish-and-chips that was undercooked and couldn’t eat it all. His sprite was 3.50 a class and my coke was 4.50 each. Huge rip off and terrible food. I’d give it zero stars if I could. Plus our service was terrible.

The location is ideal. When it’s 34 degrees outside, and you’ve been running around doing your Christmas shopping, it’s sooo tempting to sit and have a cold beer. However, once you sit down, you get those nice, fresh wafts from the hot sewer. Not the most ambient atmosphere. Also, there are some interesting characters around you. We had two stella, which were well-deserved and refreshing, and we also ordered wedges. Have had better. It’s great for people watching, the beer was great, but not the best for eating.

loud, boisterous, and sports. The salad with indian chicken is delicous. This is a typical pub, but if you’re looking to people watch on Queen Street and want a beer and a sandwich, this is exactly what you’re looking for. This open air venue is weather dependent, so take care that it’s nice out! Reasonably priced, for sure.

If you enter this pub, it will be loud. There will be some kind of sport, probably football, blasting from a hanging television and gales of laughter from a table of drunken Old Mates who’ve been there a few hours already.(Note to other women: don’t look when you walk past Pig N Whistle; these guys tend to sit at the outside tables and leer/jeer drunkenly at girls walking by. Unless you enjoy that.) If you enter the bowels of the restaurant you move further away from drunken football morons and as the venue is open-air you still have a seat amidst the hubbub of the CBD. The mains on the menu(I usually order steak) are average, while the quite-expensive snacks such as chips and potato wedges are actually of decent quality(and thankfully of large proportion given the price). In terms of drinks I usually order the house red, which tastes better than you’d expect. The real point of Pig N Whistle is that customers get to sit amongst the heart of the city and the action. The food and noise don’t matter so much; the drinks and the atmosphere are much more important. I admit this vibe alone draws me back here every so often. Oh, and to those fretting over the restaurant’s sole unisex toilet: I always duck across to the public toilets at either the Wintergarden or Broadway on The Mall. I have a George Costanza-level knowledge of public toilets.

The Pig and Whistle on Queens street is one of the best places in the city to sit and people watch and lets face it we all like to do a bit of people watching at times. Its surrounded by no walls and is in the middle of the«street» so u do get a great view of those around you. The menu is not bad but a bit pricy in opinion for what you end up getting. Some times simple food like BLT’s just need to stay simple and not become open faced salads with bits of bread. I think that if you wanted to get the most out of the Pig and whistle then you should go around lunch time after shopping or right after work when it is still light out. You also get a random mix of music because at times they have live entertainment and at other times your musical entertainment is provided by who ever is busking closest to the pub. There is a problem with the toilets however as they are unisex and there is only one so you often wait in line and i cant imagine it being too pleasant for the ladies.

This open-air venue is a bit of an icon in Brisbane due to its location smack bang in the middle of the mall. It offers both a pub with live music and TVs showing games from various football codes as well as a restaurant dealing in well-executed pub food. The prevalence of FA Premier league on the screens, a range of British beers and menu items like Yorkshire pudding fosters a feeling that you are in a real British pub, as much you feel that way when you are drinking al fresco in a busy pedestrian mall. There are a few disadvantages to this free and(at time, not so) easy location. There is only one unisex toilet with a sometimes confusing key policy and an often large queue, making for some bladder-testing moments. Also, smokers will not appreciate having to walk a few extra metres to indulge their habit after being banished from the Queen St mall. One plus though is that the place never officially closes, and due to its lack of walls, isn’t subject to QLD’s 3am lockout. However, the bar shuts at about 2am, so the effect is pretty much the same.
