Our group’s visit to The Kitty was not one that had been planned. We were meeting for dinner at Fat Noodle, however, there was to be a short wait until they could seat us. Enter Opportunity. Opportunity to finally have a drink at The Kitty. For an early Saturday evening it wasn’t packed and we easily found a corner of this expansive bar to perch upon. Like Pete F pointed out in his review, you really do forget that you are within the Treasury Casino. The casino floor is maybe 500m away from the bar, yet, The Kitty exudes sophistication, class and an attitude all of its own. We were surprised that it was table service and our bartender took our orders from where we sat. Payment was a little awkward in that you’re paying then and there, but hey, it meant we didn’t have to get up and fight through the crowds that were amassing at the bar. I ordered a gin and tonic which came to the very reasonable price of $ 9. We weren’t there for more than 30mins before our buzzer from Fat Noodle began to rattle. While this visit was only a «pit stop», it was taste enough to see that The Kitty is easily a destination to visit all on its own. Next time I’ll be trying to seat myself in the nook overlooking South Bank and The Wheel of Brisbane so it’ll be drinks with a view.

I’ve hosted a couple of networking events mid-week at The Kitty, as well as a surprise party for my partner. On every occasion the venue staff have been exceptionally helpful, capable and well-presented and everything has gone very smoothly. There is a wonderful selection of cocktails and drinks, and the selection of food is definitely value for money in terms of serving sizes and quality. Our group ordered a range including sourdough and dips, antipasto platters, hot chips and strawberries with chocolate, and were not disappointed, although the latter is probably a little costly. All of the rooms are beautiful, and there is a great view of South Bank and the Brisbane River via windows around two sides, and outdoor areas to take advantage of the warm nights, mostly designated as non-smoking. If you are looking for a venue for a networking event, social occasion or group night out, there are a variety of private rooms, booths and tables available for a very reasonable minimum spend, if any. Waiter service is provided, and audio visual is available with separate audio control via iPad taken care of by the venue manager or supervisor on the night. I’ve been very well looked after on every occasion and the staff are very happy to take care of special requests where they can, and communication in the lead up and on the night has been exceptional. Good to note: For birthdays, a cakege fee applies but can be waived for cupcakes, and if you’re an Absolute Rewards member – the loyalty program of Treasury Casino – you can accrue points too. Take note of the dress code standards for the Casino as they apply here too, and bring suitable ID including an Australian Driver’s Licence or passport if necessary as security are strict. The main area also opens up as a dance floor on the weekends so make sure you can dance in your heels.

A dark, nice little bar that almost has you forgetting you’re at the casino! In a CBD that closes quite early midweek I have a feeling these comfy couches and chained curtains will be seeing more of me. My friend ordered a lychee(and basil?) based cocktail, and while I can’t remember the name of it, it was delicious(sweeeeeet).
