Shoes glorious shoes. Local shoe designers Tom Gunn might be playing on an international stage after winning the Qantas Spirit of Youth Award but these ladies are still down to earth. Little did I know until a little post-shopping research that I was served in their Wintergarden store by one of the co-founders, Gabrielle. She was friendly, genuine and a right gem. I’ve been a long time Tom Gunn fan but this was my first venture to purchase. Having looked longingly at a particular pair of ankle boots for far too long online, I made the decision to finally step in store and see what size I would be. Lucky me there was one size left and it was my perfect fit. This is definitely a perfect example of when shopping online just doesn’t give you the same experience as walking in to a store, being greeted by a friendly face and given guidance on best sizing and/or styles. Tom Gunn’s range is fashionable without being alienating. They’re comfortable to wear and, personally, even when not on sale I feel they’re a grand investment. Think about all those shoes you buy at $ 10/$ 20 a pop — they last a few months and they’re gone. These puppies might be a premium up front but they’re going to last a lot longer!
