I live very close and keep thinking I will give it another chance, but every time it’s a let down. The menu hasn’t changed in 2 years and not once have I seen any specials.

I heard many great things about this café and sadly it did not live up to my expectations. There are some positives though so I will start with them. The staff were friendly but were slow on taking orders for coffee or clearing our plates. The food was delicious however it took over an hour which is very slow. Another issue was they did not offer eftpos or split the bill. In today’s modern world I would expect all cafes to offer eftpos. To make things worse half of our group had to walk over two blocks to the nearest ATM which was ‘out of order” then walked to the local pub and begged the barman to give them cash out. Given this café is not near a close ATM either make people aware you don’t offer split the bill & Eftpos so people can plan ahead or please get eftpos. I also checked there website and there is no mention of no eftpos available. Overall there are plenty of cafes around the area which would serve as nice food but quicker service and eftpos, wont be going again

Embarrassed to say its taken me so long to visit this place as i live so close. Can’t beat the setting and surrounds of Ceres environmental park. The restaurant itself is set at the top of Ceres The menu is pretty broad and caters to both vegans and vegetarians. I had the blue corn tacos, and they were pretty awesome. I found it hard deciding what to have. Merri uses organic produce and practices sustainability. They do take away coffee and food but only if you bring your own cup/plate. I love this concept. The staff were really friendly and service quick. To top it off once you finish your meal you can wander the park, pick up some organic veggies from the market and a plant or two from the nursery. Or just pop past and say hi to the chickens!

Reduce your environmental impact by having your next meal out here. The Merri prides itself on the low-mileage, seasonal produce it uses, sustainable practices and clever cooking techniques. None of which would mean quite so much if they didn’t deliver on the flavour front, and they so do. The entrees and sharing plates are really quite special, and luckily you don’t have to choose. Go for the sharing platter and let the chef showcase his skills to you. Having said that, I’ve never been able to look past the dips & sticks, which are supremely scrumptious, so I usually order this as well as the sharing platter. Don’t be put off by the $ 22 price tag for a humble meat pie. The lamb is organic, from Gippsland and is slowly braised till it is tender and melting and served with hand rolled pita bread and crisp, fresh coleslaw. The restaurant is bright, white and filled with natural light. It’s an equally great place to bring the whole family for Sunday lunch or a dinner and drinks with friends.
