Have been to MIDDLE EAST BAKERIES, Hope Street, Brunswick heaps of times…
There’s not much to see: it’s just a big long, fairly ordinary, Lebanese deli with olives, cheeses, groceries, nuts, dried fruits, flat breads, baklava and it’s attached to their main factory.
I go there for the wholemeal flat breads — $ 1.20 packet — I buy a heap and freeze them; the seeded bread rings — they’ve got a softer crust, are really doughy on the inside, and have a slight sweetness — my kids love them; the dried figs — love the ones here; and the baklava — there’s one type they make — the little diamonds — it’s always fresh, pastry’s always crisp, lots of walnuts and not overdone with the sugar syrup.
Service is decent — no complaints.
Price is right — all good.
You can always get a park — usually at the very front.
