What a pleasant surprise it was to find Park Bench Espresso Bar on a recent visit to Bulimba. This unassuming café at the back of Green Grass Home & Body caught my attention for their cushions on the wooden benches that patrons can sit on while gazing out to the park. On a beautiful Autumn day, this was the spot I wanted to be to have my morning coffee fix. Serving Saint by Cleanskin Coffee Co their coffee is smooth, silky and strong. While I wasn’t a fan for the first few sips, by the end of my coffee I was converted. I’ve not heard of Cleanskin before but I’m assured it is popping up in a few cafes around town and I can see why. The food looks wholesome and focused on healthy eats. They even have gluten-free options which pleased me greatly. Will be back for seconds from this park side delight.

Don’t you hate it when you plan a picnic in the park and one of the following happens. It starts raining. Ants backpack dropped morsels of cheese, proceed to tell their ant friends and suddenly you have the whole underground ant community on your blanket. Soccer balls come careering into an open bottle of soft drink. The sun melts everything into a sticky mess of what was once a beautifully decorated cake. So don’t have a picnic in the park. Do the next best thing and head to Park Bench Espresso in Bulimba. Sip your perfectly frothed soy latte on a wooden bench overlooking Memorial Park, free in the knowledge that your raspberry and chocolate muffin will not get rained on, ferried away by ants, be whacked by sporting accessories or melt into an inedible puddle of goo.

This little hole-in-the-wall coffee shop sits at the back of Green Grass Home & Body on Oxford Street. It’s such a cute little spot with seats along the footpath, overlooking the park. Perfect if you’re at the park with your kids and need to grab a quick caffeine fix. The coffee is great too, it’s quite strong. They use Saint by Cleanskin Coffee Co. This blend of beans is used by a couple of awesome little cafes popping up around Brisbane and is definitely a popular blend. You can stop by for coffee and a shop, and also enjoy a cake or biscuits from Park Bench Espresso. They also sell sandwiches and muffins, and have vegetarian and gluten free options.
