My family and me love this place so much! Everything is consistently fresh and delicious. I generally get the chicken teriyaki/sashimi or sushi set, which also comes with miso, and salad; for under $ 25 this is great value. Any if the rolls are excellent too, especially the spicy tuna or salmon. Sushi Mura is definitely in the my list of top spots for their quality and price. I highly recommend it if you’re into Japanese food.

Sushi Mura was the second Japanese Restaurant/Take-away to open in Bulimba Oxford after Sushi Station. Its now one of three and probably soon to be four, as development on another site on Oxford Street seems to indicate, yet another Japanese Restaurant. Sushi Mura is not Japanese/Chinese fusion like Yum Yum Gyoza House, and has a wide selection of dishes you would typically find at a Japanese restaurant on their menu. From Sushi through to mixed sushi boxes, Salads, Japanese U-don soups, various Curries and of course Teriyaki options. There’s room for dining-in and inside(which is larger than Yum Yum Gyoza House) there’s an aesthetically calm feel to the space. Simple low hanging pendant lights and the natural colours of the wooden floors(& matching tables), and with the use of black chairs giving form and definition. The service is friendly and full of smiles. Always wins points with me. The food can’t really be faulted either. I like Japanese food. I am a fan of their Teriyaki chicken bento box, which comes standard with rice, miso soup and salad. The spring rolls and calamari were great too. In terms of pricing, its not too bad, and yes I do think its«value-for-money». However, If I had to compare Sushi Mura to Yum Yum Gyoza House, the latter slightly wins on this criteria. All-in-all, Bulimbarians and east-siders in general should feel lucky they are spoilt for choice when it comes to Japanese cuisine.

Lets say you’re on Oxford St with the intent on seeing a movie at the cineplex and grabbing dinner. I know that Sushi Train right next door is mighty convenient. I’ve done it. But to be fair, I didn’t know about Sushi Mura! A mere two minutes walk down the street! Trust me — come here instead.(I’m sorry Sushi Train… sort of) Since moving to Brisbane I’ve been hell bent on finding our new Japanese haunt. This place will definitely be it. Their Agedashi Tofu is delicious and their sushi is fresh. My partner loved his Sashimi and Karaage chicken. The food was well priced — we got all of that and soft drinks for just over $ 30, whereas I have paid more for lesser food at other sushi places. They also have meal specials where you get a few selected dishes for around $ 20. The only thing I could fault was the general ambience of the place. Blasting a little less bad radio rock and perhaps dimming the lights a little at dinner would go a long way, in my humble opinion.

Guacamole — nothing to do with Sushi bars, right? We were walking over to the 7 – 11 to check if they had any(woolies was closed). Right next to the 7 – 11 on Oxford is the sushi bar. It had only been open for 4 days. To kill our raging appetite, we figured we’d grab some sushi to go. Wife had the calamari sushi roll & a smoked salmon & avacado roll. I had a mixed plate of salmon, tuna, shrimp, and some kind of brown tofu/soy brown thing that covered some rice. All told, VERYGOOD. Wife was raving about how much salmon & calamari were in the rolls, I was raving about how«clean» and«fresh» everything tasted. Granted, ya never get much when you go for sushi, so I had a toasted cheese sandwich afterwards, but I was wishing I had a couple of orders remaining. It was good, there was friendly staff, and everything was good to go. I would recommend this place over the sushi express a couple of businesses down the street. This will be our sushi place of choice on Oxford.
