I went here for breakfast this morning in a group of 4. It was packed but we got seats on the side stools and then were moved to a table when one freed up which was good. I ordered their avocado, hummus, tomatoes and dukkah on toast — this was on the menu as including bacon, and I ordered without bacon and then said«vegetarian please» to make sure I was understood and the girl said that was fine. Then the girl left and didn’t take the orders of 2 other people in my group and we had to flag her down. Our food went to the side stools where we were sitting originally twice, then finally made its way to our table. My dish came out with bacon cubes in the relish, so we sent it back and they bought a new dish out in about 30 seconds — they had just scraped the bacon off the plate and handed it back to me because there were 2 bits of bacon left on the plate among the tomatoes. So just a heads up for vegans and vegetarians. We asked not to be charged for my food and they obliged; but also joked about it. Everyone else said their food was really good and I liked their orange juice, apparently the coffee was good too. just the customer service suffered. I’m not keen on going back.

I have dined at the jetty three times and while the location is gorgeous and the menu quite delicious my experiences each time have been ruined by the terrible customer service — the«manager» figure is a large man who’s belly is visible out of his shirt and always appears sweaty and disheveled, who tries to mask his rudeness with humor. After wanting to brunch at 11am with a friend on my final visit I was told they weren’t serving any more people for an hour, as they were moving into their lunch menu, despite there being plenty of empty tables we were told we could«talk a walk until they’re ready» or that we could«have a drink or some cocaine in the meantime». Those comments were extremely unprofessional and rude and were said in front of children. I hope the place reviews their staff and how they are losing customers due to their rudeness and unwillingness to help patrons. I and all my friends will no longer attempt to eat there, even if they did let us.

Went for breakfast this morning with three other adults and two kids. Service was poor waitress seemed bothered that we were catching up and talking too much, as we weren’t prepared to order when she asked. It all seemed too hard to ask for egg white eggs«we don’t do that… but doesn’t the chef crack the eggs anyway… it’s too hard… I’ll see what we can do; but no! Forget to bring our extra items for out meals, couldn’t bring enough glasses for the people at our table, no follow-up to see if we wanted more drinks… This wasn’t the first poor meal /service we’ve received here but it may be our last!

Perfect location, that’s about it! Have never had a positive experience here. My partner wanted to take me somewhere special for breakfast. Unfortunately he chose here. The place lacks warmth. Wait staff lack warmth. The food is below average, poor presentation. Would recommend so many other places. Won’t recommend and won’t be back

There’s fish and chips, and then there’s THESE fish and chips! Battered flat head with a side of cous lettuce, white anchovies and an amazing dressing plus a pot of perfectly crunchy hot chips! It was, quite frankly, the best fish and chip meal I can ever remember eating. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter was super crispy. Not at all oily or stodgy. No Maam! Mmmm Mmmmmmmm! Our shared side of rocket, parmesan and balsamic dressing was gorgeous… OMG, here I am going on about how good the fish and chips were and I’ve totally forgotten to mention that we had a mind blowing starter of crumbed olives as well. They were incredibly moreish! With food like this, a wonderful outlook and friendly staff, this restaurant is definitely a winner in my books :)

Consistently great bacon and eggs for weekend brunch. Other breakfast menu choices are equally good too. Fantastic coffee… friendly staff.

Whenever I host visitors from other states, other countries or even from other suburbs within our beautiful city, I like to take them to The Jetty Oxford for a taste of breezy, easy, casual dining that epitomises the sun-drenched, river side life that I know and love. The restaurant-come-café-come-coffee stop-come-bar is situated right next door to the Bulimba ferry stop, making for a wonderfully convenient end to an expedition across the river and also providing for some excellent people watching opportunities. The Jetty clearly takes its interior design inspiration from its location and the river on its doorstep. Rustic nautical touches abound in this soft, light and airy space. There are several seating options including outdoor tables, indoor tables and bench space. The latter choice undoubtably provides the best vantage point from which to enjoy the surroundings. Generous open windows allow diners to feel as if they are spilling out onto the street, enabling them to savour the amazing view before them unhindered. Service can be on the slower side here, but I find it’s generally worth the wait. Well presented menus contain a range of ever-changing culinary choices. On my most recent visit I selected the Breakfast Bruschetta(containing fetta, roast tomato, spinach, ciabatta, ham and a soft poached egg) and my partner opted for the Chorizo Omelette with a side of bacon. The one issue he has had with The Jetty is the lack of non-egg options on the breakfast menu. As an egg-avoider he found it difficult to find anything savoury sans egg, other than the usual sweet pancake option. My Breakfast Bruschetta came out looking gorgeous. Beautifully presented on the plate, I couldn’t wait to dive into this colourful pile of ingredients. I immediately pierced the poached egg sitting proudly atop the tomato and ciabatta, but was disappointed to find a soft crumbly yolk. No gushing, runny yellow stream here. Very sadenning. None-the-less, the gentle flavours mixed well and I still enjoyed my dish. The soft, silky fetta was a stand-out for me. Each mouthful of ham, ciabatta, juicy, sweet blackened tomato, spinach and fetta was a pleasure. Also, the large splinter of shiny, caramelised razor-thin prosciutto nested against the stack was a lovely touch. I saved it for last, and it crunched and powdered in my mouth after I had cleared my plate. My partner tells me his omelette was quite good. All in all, this is a solid multi-faceted location. Whether you’re looking for a casual breakfast, a coffee-on-the-go, lunch, dinner or a quiet tipple — The Jetty can provide it all. All with the backdrop of the stunning Brisbane river. It’s for this reason I can forgive its solid poached egg and slower service. ;)

I had lunch here while apartment hunting and ordered the Wagyu burger with a side of fries. First of all, what is up with Aussie’s and their love affair with beets in the burger!!! If you’re a beets-on-your-burger fan, the beet relish here was pretty amazing. Wagyu beef and the remainder of the burger was a bit lacking in flavour though. The fries on the other hand… WOW. AMAZING. Adequate surface area? Check Crispy outside? Check Fluffy inside? Check Generously salted with extremely good quality salt? Double Check! Garlic aioli? Check… what can i say, I’m a fan of the garlic. Come here for their cocktails with a side of fries. You won’t regret it.

Had a work dinner here and the food was fine and they do serve one of my favourite beers on tap(28 Pale). They accommodated a large crowd well. Nothing particularly positive or negative stands out about the place. I was pretty relieved I wasn’t paying the bill though, which it definitely at the pricier end of dining.

Why is it so hard to find a good dining experience on the river in the River City? Obviously riverside space is at a premium, but unfortunately the(often) wankers who can afford it feel that they’ve done enough with the fit out and then completely neglect to offer palatable food at a decent price with good service. Sorry The Jetty but that’s my impression of you anyway. You just don’t live up to your own hype! If you want to charge that much for your meals you need to make them huge and delish, not hit and miss. Oh and you’re going to need outstanding service too. There’s some really good border line fine dining restaurants in Brisbane now and if I added $ 20 to my budget I’d get incredible food and silver service wait staff attention. You don’t need to go to silver service extreme’s, however friendlier staff who are actually prompt and attentive would be a start. Oh, the food’s OK but not worth the disgruntlement of everything else. Nice view though.

Like most people, I was drawn to this place because of its breezy modern interior and the beautiful views of the River. And while I can’t vouch for the dinner meals, I was none to impressed with my underwhelming $ 18 poached egg(Though the coffee made up for the watery breakfast.) I too have had similar confused experiences with the waitstaff, But in my case she didn’t come back at all after taking my order. (I had to flag down another lady and wait an excruciating 10min for her to come back.) Although it’s got the looks, this place is definitely lacking in soul. The service(as well as the price) has put me off coming here again.

I recently caught up with a few friends here for coffee. I use the word coffee in the sense that we all had just drinks(not food), not necessarily the caffeinated beverage made from Coffea arabica… You get the idea. We all arrived at slightly different times, as is the way with these sort of things. I wasn’t the first there, nor was I the last, and I sat down at our inside table(nice and airy interior, with big open windows giving river views) just as a friend’s coffee arrived. I flagged down who I thought was a waitress and asked for a lemon, lime & bitters(it was a hot day) and they replied«I’ll just get a waitress for you…» As you could understand this caused us all some confusion, as we were under the impression she was a waitress… As far as we can tell she was the barista, who is authorised to bring out drinks but not take orders. The bona fide waitress who came a few moments later took my order on this iPod/iPhone type device and I noticed there was an iPad acting as a register. Perhaps the supposed barista didn’t have one of these devices, which is why she couldn’t take my simple order? Anyway, the whole thing reeks of false efficiency to me… Anyway the lemon, lime & bitters was a bit flat and overly syrupy in the end. A friend who ordered their homemade lemon iced tea was informed about 10 minutes after ordering that they were out of it. Maybe they could program this into their high tech system. I’m hearing one of my iPhone’s obnoxious alarm sounds blaring when you try to order something the kitchen or bar is out of. Just an idea guys…

With one of the best locations looking out over the river at the end of Oxford St, The Jetty has the potential to be a local favourite for those living around the area. I however have my doubts. Maybe it was the high expectations, maybe it was the fact that I was about to purchase a Wagyu burger for $ 22 or maybe it was that their version of fish and chips was $ 25. I just don’t know. But overall this place feeds off the snobbish side of Bulimba and I am going to put a sizeable amount of the blame on that my friends and I are quite a bit younger than the normal clientele. Its not something that I can explicitly demonstrate to you but it’s more the overall experience that we had, felt that they wanted us to know we were dining in the wrong place. Unfortunately for this review that desperately wants to stay in the negative, the food was so good I have to excuse them for it all. So well done The Jetty. You’ve managed to pull yourself from a potentially bad place by the skill of your chefs. I can recommend eating there, but only as long as it takes to finish your meal and get out as quickly as you can.
