I am a regular at Sublime Carindale, actually coming in every 8 weeks for the past 3 years or so for my hair+fringecut/regrowth colour/treatment. Everyone is always super friendly, and the move from the old salon upstairs(near terry white/upper food court) to the new salon downstairs near Coles has been swell, the new salon is much prettier! Every visit I am pampered from the pressure point/aromatherapy oil massage initially to get you relaxed, to your choice of beverage and the massage chairs at the basin.(I can definitely agree with other reviewers saying they were so relaxed they almost fell asleep — this happens to me too!) They use Kerastase and Kevin murphy products on my hair, and always style it in whatever way I like — usually dead straight with a GHD as i can never get it quite as nice at home. I have been through probably 3 hairdressers here though(in 3 years) with the first two leaving, but I really like my current hairdresser and am keen to keep coming here.

I had a day off work last week and in a true TREATYO’SELF moment, I decided to splash out on a bit of luxury and get my hair professionally washed and styled. I had an event to go to that evening and I’d planned on going home after shopping and doing it myself, but as I walked past Sublime, I thought… why not? Go on, girl. For a Thursday afternoon(late night shopping night!) I was pleased to find that they were able to fill my walk-in request immediately, which was less waiting around than I’ve done for some booked-in appointments at other salons! I have to admit, I was a little startled by the $ 70 price tag for just a wash and style(apparently my hair is long?), but I was reassured that I’d love it or they’d fix it, and everyone inside seemed so happy… so in I went. As soon as a girl appeared at my shoulder and said she’d be giving me a pressure-point massage as part of the service, I decided I was more than happy with my choice. Dapper in a bow-tie, stylist Peter picked up where my friendly masseuse left off, and I really did have an excellent experience. I can’t tell you how great it is to find a place where the wash basins are actually comfortable to rest your head in. I was so comfy, I almost fell asleep at one point. Peter styled my frizzy curls into big, beautiful ringlets, giving it more attention than maybe any other stylist I’ve ever had at the end of a haircut. I was totally stoked with his work and happy I’d taken such an elitist plunge for the evening. I felt like a total bombshell and I’ll more than happily return to Sublime. P. S. I laughed when I checked in here and saw that one of their two reviews was from Daniel B. I was pleased to see that such a well-groomed dude recommends this place, too!

Ive been coming to sublime for years now which speaks volumes unto itself. Of course for a guy, spending $ 50 — $ 70 on a haircut is apparently ridiculous but overall I think Sublime fits it that nice niche between tacky-barber-bowl-cut-shop and my-house-has-been-remortgaged-for-this-cut. I get greeted by name on arrival without them looking me up, taken straight to a seat and offered any style of coffee, juice, water etc before quickly being indulged in a pressure point massage. My stylist asks how I’m going to change my hair again this time before washing my hair, giving me a head massage while conditioning it… all of which is done on an electric massage chair. By this stage I’m ready to fall asleep but I get whisked back to my chair while they snip, chop and whizz my hair into a versatile, manageable and perfect haircut! I’m sure il be returning for many years to come!

After a few hair horrors in suburban salons, you can safely say I’m a little afraid to get my hair done in a local. So, it took a lot of courage for me to go to Sublime at my nearby Westfield. But, following my rule that you can usually tell how good a salon will be by how good the staff’s hair looks, I felt quite relieved when I was greeted at the reception desk by a girl with the coolest, sharpest bob in a delicious, dip-dyed reds. I knew I’d be in safe hands. Plus my Mum is a regular and they cut her hair beautifully. I was only having my bob subtly trimmed, but I was still treated like royalty. And I liked the atmosphere — it was buzzy, fun and nicely lit(so much more flattering to my complexion!), with a chic black and white interior. Even though I had a first rate experience, there’s still a little of the salon snob in me, so I’m not sure I’d be ready to take the plunge and have a drastic revamp here. But for a tidy up or a blow dry for a special occasion, I’d definitely be back.
