Returned to Michelino’s Trattoria with my wife and enjoyed another very good meal. Once again, I started with grilled sausages that were crisp on the outside and tasty. My wife won the ordering contest by selecting a wonderfully prepared grilled salmon on asparagus and a cauliflower purée. My spaghetti pescatora was also very good. The service was better and more attentive than on my previous visit. Michelino’s remains an excellent value.

We weren’t expecting much for a quick Sunday evening meal and the décor was a little uninspiring, but the service was pleasant and courteous. Food pretty good and by the time we left the tables were filling fast.

We have been here twice now, the initial attraction was it was one of the few places on Lygon St that didn’t hassle us to go in there. The usual family Italian style menu. Good food, moderate prices, woodfired pizza oven in the corner is a nice touch. Only downside was I asked for ‘extra extra garlicky’ garlic focaccia and what I received was only moderately garlicky.

We went here looking for a good wood-fired pizza and left very happy. Nice atmosphere and wonderful staff make this place worth coming to. One tip, though… order a second pizza as they are really just a little too small for two people to share. Plus, then you will have leftovers!

Not your classic ‘Italian on Lygon’ but this little gem tucked away in a side street has a few surprises. Fantastic super thin crusty wood-fired pizza and a great selection of imaginative specials. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

Food was served in massive portions, we went in a group of 6 and we all had something different and everybody was very pleased and satisfied with their choices. The atmosphere was very noisy, not a good place to go for a quiet meal.

At first I thought this place would be very expensive. I guess it had something to do with the fact that they’re away from all the other more well know restaurants along lygon, as well as the fact it was a big restaurant with a more quiet vibe. However I was wrong. It’s not dirt cheap, but you wouldn’t expect it to be with this sort of quality. And in fact it’s actually very reasonable. The spaghetti marinara was amazing. It came out with half a crab poking through the beautiful, garlicky spaghetti. The Prosciutto Pizza with goats cheese, tomato, prosciutto and rocket for only $ 15 was truly tasty. Definitely coming here again.

So who says you have to be ON Lygon to be ‘good’ Italian… This place hides right behind Lemongrass(which itself is a bit out of place). And I’m sorta glad it hides. Means it is less packed out. Michelino’s is a bit quieter than most the Lygon-styled fare. It’s off the beaten path, and surely paying lower rent, because their prices are far more reasonable than anyplace else around. $ 18-$ 25 for pasta. One size fits all. Delicioso! The piece de resistance, however, is everything that comes out of their brick oven! Their pizzas are huge, and top out at $ 16. For real Italian-style pizza? On(off) Lygon? You must be kidding! These are great… my favorites being the Ortolano($ 15) for veggies and good mozzarella, and the traditional Salsiccia($ 15). Linger around the corner and check it out. They’ve even got a nice glassed-in patio, with heaters for those ‘crisp’ spring evenings.
