Rydges on Swanston

Good bargain, good breakfast, night access is a bit annoying and the showers need a make-​over.

The rooms here are lovely. I stayed on a work trip and was pleasantly surprised.
We had a dinner in a function room. The food and service was amazing.
The alternate drop is the only thing that dropped rating.

When I need to book a hotel I spend hours pouring over different options because I want the best hotel within my price range.
Rydges in Carlton is my favourite «special occasion» hotel, and I always go straight for the king spa room. The bed is very comfortable, huge plasma TV, and my favourite feature, the two person oval eurpoean spa. It is divine. The door to the bathroom can be left open so you can watch the TV. The room is spacious, with a desk and internet access. If you are going to stay here, join Rydges rewards club first so you can take advantage of the late checkout, or cheap meals.
Speaking of meals, the restaurant at Rydges is great. We have occasionally gone their without even staying at the hotel. They tend to have lots of great deals, such as cheap steak and parma nights.
