Good chai(tea not coffee) but the coffee is pretty average. Ok if you are desperate. What annoys me is when I’ve been there is the lacklustre service. Serving me chai tea and there’s no teaspoon, milk or honey. Guys, I shouldn’t have to ask for these things and when I have there’s no apology or anything that suggests they care. I’ve not tried the food, and I think that’s because it’s just not that interesting or cheap — so a bit of a bad combination in my book. The thing about this place is that it must get heaps of trade from all the staff and students, and I feel because of its location they just don’t really try too hard, because there is nothing else around. But when you live somewhere like melbourne, you really expect better coffee and service. To be honest, it’s more satisfying to get a coffee from the machine at work than here, and that’s saying something. This could be great. There is potential.

Not the best, but it’s fine for a quick work coffee!

I’m not especially happy about the fact that this little café is hailed as the best coffee on campus for Monash University in Caulfield. This could indeed be true but if it is, that is not saying much for the Caufield campus. My coffee almost had me asking the question: «can I have some coffee with my milk?. It really wasn’t a great coffee and I’ve now had a few there. None of them being overly satisfactory. The food however, isn’t bad. They’ve got a nice selection of this and that to choose from. Pretty much the same as most cafés but a good break from the rest of the campus’ food stores.

Is there anything positive I can say about this restaurant/café? Hmm. Nope. I came here for the first(and last) time for a conference lunch, and sadly there were very few redeeming qualities about this restaurant. The food was substandard(I had a medium rare steak and poached pear dessert) and the service was even worse: the«waiter» with the shaved mohawk who served us was aggressive, made inappropriate comments about how much(or in this case, little) food we actually consumed, and then completely forgot two of the coffees we had ordered. What are the upsides of coming here? Supposedly the coffee is the best on campus. But I wouldn’t know, I never got to try it.

I’m a Monash Uni student and this place is hands down the best coffee on campus. Not to mention it’s the nicest place to enjoy said coffee. There’s ample outside space to enjoy the sunshine but it sucks in winter as it becomes a bit of wind tunnel. Inside isn’t as generous with space, but there is a nice communal table at the back and a smattering of other various sized tables to relax at. Most people you see coming through here are rushing for caffeine hit before their next lecture or tutorial. Mamadukes also offers an ample menu though for poor Uni students, their prices are a bit steep. I find $ 6 for a pizza slice a little excessive even if it is deliciously gourmet.
