Chooks Corner is a bit of a pleasant surprise. It has all the tacky elements of a bad and greasy charcoal chicken take away joint but they make really well cooked chickens and other items that would challenge any mum’s homemade meals. On a Sunday morning it was packed full of mothers and others getting chickens obviously to have for dinner where it’s not expensive either. They cater as well where they make really nice sandwiches, wraps, salads and roasts, where it has got a very homemade feel about it. The guys there are really nice and were charming all of the mothers who are probably glad they don’t have to cook once in a while and can instead just get something from Chooks Corner and pretend they made it.

When we’re feeling really lazy, take away dinners are like a god-send. And Chooks corner on the corner of Glenhuntly Road and Hawthorn Road has become one of the favourites recently. It’s actually quite hard to miss since there are large signs outside advertising charcoal chicken take away. The chicken is processed chemically-free and are juicy and plump. We normally order a whole chicken and chips(ask for chicken salt) and depending on how big an eater you are, you’ll probably have left overs for tomorrow. The great thing about Chooks corner chicken is it is never dry so day after meals will still be yummy. I also tried the chicken burger with the lot today and I have to say I was very impressed. It came with the usual — cheese, lettuce, bacon and egg and was complemented by a sweet, tangy sauce. The bun was soft enough that you didn’t have to eat it in sections and the burger was really juicy overall.
