Okay, since I don’t live down this way I rarely, if ever, get to step foot in this pub, however if there is one thing that I can say about it and that is that it is massive. In fact I wouldn’t call it a pub because that is a bit of a misnomer — it’s an enterainment complex. Okay, you have your sports bar and pokies room, but that is underneath the main part of the pub, and it also has a separate entrance(wow, a pub that doesn’t have a entrance to the gaming lounge straight from the family restaurant — that’s definitely a novelty). Anyway, the family restaurant is more than just a place where you can eat because it also has a bowling alley, and as the kitchens begin close it suddenly turns into a night club. While it isn’t one of my favourite places to visit, it certainly is impressive.

It’s a local pub. I mean $ 15 Parma night, steak night etc it’s everything you’d expect from a pub. The food is good for what it is and the prices are reasonable. Am I saying that everyone will love it most definitely not! It’s good with in reason and the staff are nice and very friendly which I think lifts from your average pub. Worth a cheeky beer and cheap dinner!

Went on a Wednesday night for a sports trivia night, and was greeted with $ 15 parma night! Tick. There was also some semi-decent beers on tap! Tick. Staff too was very kind. Tick. Not sure it would be exactly the place I(thats me being a 22 yo) would want to be on a busy night, but i guess that’s with all RSL’s/hotel’s, but it would defintely a good place for a easy night out with the family!

Nope. I used to come here quite a bit when I was a kid. I am pretty sure it was because they have that amazing playground that goes outside rough the wall. I have some good memories in this pub. I visited just the other day and my eye drifted to the parma on the menu, it wasn’t the cheapest I’ve had but it sounded delicious. I really dropped the ball with that one. It was as if the parma was cooked the day before and had been sitting on the bench for hours before coming to me. It was chewy and soggy. I did not even manage to finish the thing. Nothing about my meal was satisfactory. Even the vegetables seemed to be so fresh that they still had dirt on them. All in all, this place is expensive and you definitely do not get what you pay for.

For a great pub meal with efficient service and a good range of menu items available you cant go past the Matthew Flinders. Of course they would like you to linger and play the pokies, I understand that, but we are here to discuss the food. Talking of which, the servings are more than adequate, even the Seniors servings will satisfy. Catering also for large groups, you may have to put up with merriment but that is better than the alternative. Specials of the day, every day, are usually worth serious consideration. Timing of the meals coming out can be a bit of a problem. They tend to come out too soon. The buzzer system makes sense but needs to be re-programmed for slower eaters like me. I have eaten here three times in the last month, usually before going supermarket shopping at Woolies up the road. They even have a baby grande although I am yet to hear anyone play it. Coffee is so so. Parking is easy. Food would rate up there with Zagame’s and The Rosstown. The desserts are great. All in all, a good choice for lunch or for a social get together with the party from work.
