I’ve been here three times now. Once for glasses, once for a readjustment(free to purchasers) and once for an eye injury… It is safe to say that Claremont Optical* is a 5-star across the board. Eye Glasses: Whether you call me Tina Fey or Sarah Palin, I’ve got to keep up my eye-wear hip and current.(Since moving to Auz, I don’t get as many of these doppelgänger comments.) I came to Claremont Optical(CO) because I once, about two years back, spotted leopard print glasses in their window. I never, ever forgot. They were passing out coupons that didn’t have an expiration date. I held onto that bad boy! The doctor(Dr. Annie Richards) is very fast and professional. She must understand that people don’t enjoy others near their eyeballs(a la me). While I hate going to the eye doctor for the consultation, I absolutely love picking out eye glasses, but this time I decided I was going to be responsible and just upgrade the prescription in my ol’ faithful turtle shell glasses. A few spins around the store and that quickly changed. Seeing the vast selection, I wanted something new and exciting! I turned to the staff(after trying to Facetime a few friends) and they are just lovely. They were very honest and blunt — which I appreciated. I picked out a pair of metal rim cat-eye that is a cross between a mauve/lavender as it is metallic. I was torn between plastic rims and these gold cat-eye glasses that looked so Nana that I wanted them! They fit well with my crochet/knitting self! Honestly, I would have never gotten these on my own but they were very encouraging. I did find it a bit of a shock that they don’t have a trial period on glasses. I am very use to the States offering a 30-day money back guarantee if you don’t like your glasses. Glasses here are not cheap. I know there are places online that you can buy glasses for next to nada, the only issue is not being able to try them on. Eye Adjustment: Since I am not use to wearing metal glasses, I find them to pinch quite often(nose and behind ears). I came back for the free adjustment and that has helped significantly. While I get a lot of compliments on my glasses, I still don’t know that it would have been a pair I would have picked out on my own. Maybe this means, I have bad taste? Eye Injury: I’ll just say this, as recounting the tale makes me blink incessantly: eye lash curler, moving vehicle, break. Yes, I am the biggest dummy passenger ever. Beauty has a price and payment comes as the consultation visit($ 71!) plus OTC drops. With a cut cornea and a bruised eyelid, I absolutely appreciate them squeezing me in on a Saturday as their last appointment. I no longer had to wonder why my eyeball felt on fire. *Please note that there is two eye places in Claremont. One inside the mall and one outside. This is outside next door to Brinkhaus Jewelery.
