Monash’s daytime uni bar. Might I just say, they have some spectacular burgers on offer. I end up walking down here every other day for a bite to eat at lunch. My personal preference is the moroccan lamb burger. It really goes down a treat. I always add avocado as well for an extra $ 1. The bar generally has fairly cheap beer and has James Squire amber and pale ales on tap. Two thumbs up from me for that. It is a full bar with all sorts of spirits. The other day, a group of students came in at 2pm for tequila shots. Because, why not. The bar has a great atmosphere to it and is very welcoming to all those who walk inside.

A daytime bar for uni students, on campus, where the beer is cold and the drinks are cheap. That’s sure to succeed, right? Well, it should. The problem(as was found a few years ago) was that when a bar is run by a student association, certain things can go wrong and it is forced to close(the year before I started uni). The plus side of this, though, is that when it reopened with a new fit-out, new plan, new name and a whole new set of clientele(ok, so when a new bar opened where the old one was), the students protect it and flock to it with a kind of defensive fervour. Drinks are cheap, cider is on tap, service is pretty good(not the fastest, but the queues are often long), and they even do cocktails if you’re feeling the need for something fancy. It’s not quiet. Don’t go here for a quiet afternoon beer. Just sayin’
