I love Marigold. Suman is a wonderful host who always goes the extra kilometer to make me feel welcome. Lovely food(sometimes a bit slow). Great atmosphere. If you want great Indian food, the Marigold is perfect.

I have had two experiences at this restaurant, dining in once and the other time ordering take-away. As a vegetarian Indian food is always a favourite with me and Marigold has a very good selection. I’ve tried several dishes including the Malai Kofta, Vegetable Korma and Palak Paneer. The spinach based Palak Paneer is a curry I often find very disappointing at a lot of restaurants but Marigold has a very tasty version of this dish. The other two dishes have lacked a little spice, but have had a very good creamy consistency. I think in future I would order take-away as the seating in the restaurant is very close and a little stuffy.

Clifton Hill has a relatively limited dining selection and this restaurant was formerly a very decent French restaurant so I was kinda sore when it closed. Thankfully Indian is one of my favourite flavours and the Marigold is a satisfying experience. The décor is smart casual and the majority of furniture, picture frames etc is left over from the previous owner, no overly gimmicky indian theme. For an entrée I cant go past the onion bhaji or tandoori chicken pieces, the samosas are big but not amazing. The butter chicken is delicious as is the garlic naan, lamb saag, rogan josh and whole tandoori chicken. I always end up over ordering and the staff happily allow my friends and I to doggy bag the anticipated left overs. For a shared entrée, two mains, rice and naan expect between $ 20-$ 25 pp.

The food here Is delicious! What an extensive menu with a good range of vegetarian options which makes my girlfriend very excited(being a vegetarian) but also means she takes forever to decide. The interior is nice and it was a warm night when we dined so the front window of the store had been slid to one side which made the inside the perfect temperature and also gave the impression we were outside. I found the staff to be very attentive, however the choice of music was quite hilarious with a varied mix. We shared an entrée of mushrooms cooked with chilli and garlic which was amazing. I ordered the lamb madras and my girlfriend enjoyed(after much deliberation) the eggplant masala. All was filled with flavour and I couldn’t walk away — or should i say roll away — without finishing both. They also do take away, are lisenced and BYOB.
