Not impressed. The 30+ minute wait for lunch in a near empty restaurant didn’t help. It appears their reputation is higher than their actual service delivery.

I absolutely love Mina-no-ie. The coffee is one of the best in Collingwood. It’s just a good solid coffee, which sometimes can be hard to find. I do like blends full of flavour, but it’s great to have a nice rich coffee. The food is fantastic, really love the Japanese inspiration. The baked eggs with miso is really delicious. The fit out is awesome, bit of a warehouse vibe, with some awesome finishing and a neat little shop inside as well. This would easily be a 5 if they were consistant with their opening hours, sad to say I can’t be sure it’s open on any day of the week, it seems very sporadic, but when you can catch it open its amazing!

The owners of Cibi have created a space that feels more like an art gallery that happens to have a café in it, rather than the usual vice versa. The old warehouse has soaring ceilings that create an beautiful open space with plenty of natural light. Just as in Cibi, there is a section of beautiful objects to buy for the home and that special someone. Take a look at the cutlery you eat with, chances are its the same amazing Japanese cutlery on display in the shop section. I tried the Eat Your Soup selection from the lunch menu. A delicate soup with chicken mince balls, coriander, onions and celery it was almost classic Jewish soup, except for the inclusion of pickled vegetables, shittaki mushrooms and red beans, transforming it into a Japanese fusion
