Located in the industrial part of Coolaroo, it’s surprising this pub doesn’t get busier, at least during the day with the trade’s and labourers in such close proximity. Needless to say it makes it a good place if you’ve got young kids who like to run a muck and scream the house down, because there really shouldn’t be too many other people for them to bother. The bistro area is nice enough, recent renovation’s have given the interior a more sophisticated edge and the bar and drinks area is very large. It probably shouldn’t be, because the bistro is generally quiet the bar is usually only staffed with one person, and because it’s accessible by two sides it can sometimes take a while for them to realise you’re waiting. However in saying that I’ve never really been here past 9:00pm, and although I’ve never seen it busy I’m sure it must do good business considering the size of the complex and the opening hours until 4: ooam every day. Meals can be quickly ordered and they offer pub faves like the chicken parmigiana, roast of the day and a great fisherman’s basket my husband loves. Compared to some other pubs around though the Coolaroo menu is pricey on some things, for pub prices anyway. And unlike some places that offer really good deals, like Tuesday night pie night or Wednesday parmi night, the Coolaroo only manages $ 13 lunch deals throughout the week. They do have a fantastic kids play area, complete with play stations for older kids, so my husband and I don’t mind going, it’s one place we can go to enjoy each others company a bit while our five year old plays. And apart from having to wait a while sometimes for a drink, the service is great and the wait staff are really personable. Meals are nice(fisherman’s basket recommended), but make sure you take your appetite because they are huge! With bistro, bar, full TAB, adult and kids entertainment as well as function rooms for parties, weddings and social events the Coolaroo is a surprising find in the Industrial north.
