We stopped by for a very late lunch after having spent the day fishing off Bellambi, just north of Wollongong. We ran really late so didn’t have lunch until about 3pm. We always love hitting up the local RSL when going to new places and this was no exception. Thankfully the bistro was serving food all day — YAY! Went in feeling like fish and chips or maybe some calamari — fishing makes me want to eat seafood! But after looking at the menu and spying a chicken schnitzel for a mere $ 13 dollars, we couldn’t resist. Now, Dr. Skorpio has been partaking in a lot of pub schnitzels of late while going on his motorbike rides and has been appalled at being charged $ 24 to $ 27 for the humble schnitty. So this was a welcome menu item indeed! We got it with chips and salad. The chicken was well cooked and it was a good solid breast of chicken, not any of that prepackaged stuff you sometimes see used. I took a photo of it compared with Dr. Skorpio’s head for comparison. It was a large dish with plenty of salad and chips… we could not believe it was only $ 13. The drinks are also very well priced, a beer and LLB is $ 7 all up. That’s why we love the humble RSL! So if you are ever in this neck of the woods, stop by and have the humble schnitty!
