One of the main halls at UWA, Winthop Hall looks and feels like a church. It was built in 1932 and has stain glass windows throughout the entrance hall. Inside Winthrop Hall itself, a massive organ sits at the far end of the hall, with rows of bench seating leading down to the floor, where graduating classes back in the day must have stood. The wooden beams of the ceiling are covered in aboriginal art. There is definitely a religious vibe in this hall. I attended the School of Life launch sermon at Winthrop Hall, and it was such a apt setting for the event. The Hall is for hire, and I know they have had various events including orchestra performances at the Hall.
