Late night dinner after the movies. Short wait to be seated by friendly staff. Water & menu brought to the table quickly. A number of people already seated, good vibe in the place. Decided to share the special vegetarian pizza, also ordered a coffee. Didn’t take long for food to arrive. Smelled and look delicious. We both really enjoyed the pizza and the coffee was good, though a little cold. Would visit again. Has wall to wall windows with city views, mellow music playing in the back ground amongst the hum of the chatter.

Took a while to serve but was Friday night and busy. Satay chicken was spicy but nicy. Gnocchi was yummy, Thai green chicken curry was really good and eggplant was a pleasant surprise. Kids meal was generous and ice cream was yummy. Only negative point was menu had nothing out of the ordinary. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive.

This place ain’t too bad. I’ve been to Groove Train multiple times, and with different sets of friends. It’s particularly good for meals with your mates as it really does have something for everyone. I’ve always stuck with the carbonara so I can’t say much else for the rest of the food, but I’ve heard from more than a few people that the eggplant chips are wicked. There’s probably better places to eat at Donny, but at least this one is consistent. View is particularly beautiful, service could be a little better — it’s really not that personal or memorable.

Average service — the wait staff don’t know what the daily specials are or what’s in them… The food was actually quite good on the Saturday afternoon I went. Had the daily special of squid ink spaghetti with seafood — essentially just spaghetti cooked in an inky sauce, NOT black spaghetti as I initially thought. Decent amount of seafood in the dish — I was pleasantly surprised. But groups beware — they don’t split bills!

Groove Train is a really nice place to grab a meal before heading off the cinemas at Doncaster. Located upstairs it is amongst a line of restaurants on the floor — it is bright orange so you cannot miss it! The type of food here is pretty varied — there is a hint of italian in the large range of pizza and pasta, a hint of café-style food with the appetisers and large drink menu and hints of many other flavours and styles — each in the form of a different dish. Mains range from around $ 20-$ 30 although the servings are quite large so it is good value. Entrees are around $ 10-$ 20. The last time I went was with a big group — around ten of us. The staff were quite slow to come and take our order and it took us about five minutes to get one staff members attention and for them to come over. That was a little frustrating but after that the service picked up considerably. We got our drinks quickly and then waited perhaps half an hour for the meals to come out. The pizzas and pastas here are incredible, as are the fish n chips.(My favourite meal). One thing to note is that they do not split bills so make sure to bring cash or have one member of your group pay on credit and organise the rest later. In emergencies there is an ATM below the restaurant on the next level down. I will definitely be headed back there but perhaps I will aim for a quieter night than a Saturday.
