Fairfield RSL was quite a surprise, didn’t expect how beautiful the club décor and how beautifully they maintained the look and cleanness and the restaurants within. We went to Montagné, very nice atmosphere and friendly service. There was only one waitress on and few tables were starting to fill up while we there so service was a tad slow but not an issue. The décor sets the French theme, the regular menu doesn’t have many choices tho. We had the special of the day which was Tartare de Bœuf, which was amazing best I’ve ever tasted and I’d go back just for that but unfortunately it’s not part of their regular menu. For Main my partner had duck a l’orange that he loved, had a crispy skin and cooked well. I had the pork belly which was a little disappointing as it didn’t have crisp and I only order pork belly and wait with anticipation for that crunchy crispy skin but it was chewy :-( For desert my partner had the crème brûlée, which had an infused rhubarb sauce on top that just gave a weird taste, he removed it and discarded the sauce which revealed a lovely crisp sugar top and a good tasting crème brûlée to underneath, there’s no need for the sauce. Also not part of their regular menu. I had the soufflé, that was a very nice finish to the meal after the pork disappointment, I enjoyed the soufflé and the accompanying ice cream yummm.

This place is swish for Fairfield. You could easily see any of these restaurants in Surry Hills minus the parking problems and the price tag! We went to phở@fairfield which is asian cuisine and WOW!!! The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Peeps get yourself to the local it’s pretty good!!! LOVEDTHERSL. They also have Italian, French and Australian restaurants and a café. Loved this place and will be returning to try French!!!
