Nice enough place. Music a tad loud and totally the wrong genre for what could be a good vibe. The bread is good and the sandwiched tasty. Didn’t try the coffee but the bought-in juice was tasty. Would give more stars but the toilets were cleaned some time in 1997 and never since… That always gives me the heebie-jeebies. Look up at the air extractor vent or the pipe work around the loo and you’ll see what I mean.

Picked Rustica Sourdough to have brunch with some friends on a Sunday morning. Best decision ever! :) There are heaps of cafes to choose from in Fitzroy, but decided to try this place and we were not disappointed. I picked the ‘sautéed greens’ for breakfast. It consisted of sautéed broccolini, beans and snow peas served on sourdough with haloumi, resting on a bed of smashed avocado and pesto. Oh and a poached egg and almonds on top! I was originally going to attempt the Croque Monsieur — but there’s always next time! It was a generous serving and was such a delight to eat. Fresh, yum and very green. Friend ordered the french toast — and although I didn’t get to taste it — it looked delicious. I would love to be able to try their breads — especially the pumpkin sourdough next time.

Cronut. Go there. Devour Cronut. Lick your fingers, don’t waste a crumb. Seriously so amazing. A croissant and a donut got together and made the most deliciously glorious baby.

Carb lovers take note: From the traditional sourdough, grainy loaf or my personal favourite — the rosemary and vine fruit — this is some damn good bread. The baguettes are good to slice and accompany a cheese platter, or buy a sliced tin loaf and throw it in your freezer for easy-to-grab bread each breakfast Pro tip: keep an eye out for the hot cross buns at Easter.

Good bread for takeaway or a café for brunch. Pretty standard brunch menu of eggs and their house baked bread and some tasty looking specials. Their coffee is roasted in Geelong

I just had a savory muffin and a coffee, and both were excellent, and the service was excellent. The other food that diners near me had looked excellent — the Avocado mash especially. I must go back there and try it soon.

I popped in here the other day for a quick lunch. Id had takeaway hot chocolates from here a few times and always found them pretty good, however what inspired me to write this review was the most magnificent chicken pie Ive ever had in my life!!! I was peckish and wanted something to eat — I dont normally eat pies and things like that but I couldnt find anything else there that looked particularly appertizing for whatever reason and so I decided on the pie and a hot chocolate. The poor bloke behind the counter had to deal with quite a lot of customers all by himself which kind of annoyed me a bit as it made me think«gosh, are they too tight to put on a second staff member» but was probably more to do with my more selfish thought of «hurry up, Im really hungry»… Anyway, I ordered the pie and it cost $ 6.50 which I thought quite frankly was daylight robbery, however I sat and had a quick look at the newspaper while I waited(quite a while) for the pie and hot chocolate. It was quite busy and the poor guy was working by himself. Anyway, the pie and hot chocolate came and I took it away. When I opened it, I noticed that included in the bag with the pie was a little plastic container of chutney or sauce(probably chutney) and although it had spilled a bit I thought«thats a nice touch» and the concept made me feel good! Then I bit into the pie and it was the most magnificant pie Ive ever had in my life!!! It had huge chunks of chicken — real meat rather than processed mince! It was delicious! These chunks were about as big as dominos! They were delicious too — as were the mushrooms and peas etc.(It was a chicken and mushroom pie to be precise). I really really enjoyed it and although it was expensive, I am more than happy to pay this price for it again and actually look forward to having another one! Of course the hot chocolate was delicious too — which also added smiles! Im reluctant to give the place 5 stars as the service took a while and it is expensive, though if they keep doing pies like that they might just force their way into that 5th star! Keep up the good work Rustica Sourdough!
