Another American themed bar with ridiculously priced hot dogs which I did not order($ 13 is truly laughable). The weekly special, «Ode to Miss Peaches» was a $ 16 burger with double meat and cheese. It was good but small and tasted like one you could get at In-N-Out(American fast food chain that sells decent burgers for around only $ 3.). They were out of buttermilk so I was not able to try their popular fried chicken or chicken burger. The bar entrance and bar area looks«cool» but I would probably not be back.

The first thing to note is that Greaser is actually a bar that serves food as opposed to a restaurant. This had the upside of there being decent beer on tap but the downside(for me) of loud music I did not enjoy. The menu is nice and small and the burger I recommend is the Mac & cheese with an extra beef patty. My only complaint is that the patty was over cooked/dry.

Good music, good drinks! Will going back, food was amazing and all the staff were so friendly. Great place to start your night with friends and listen to live music.

Good music, cool people, and the burgers are great– they have the perfect char-grilled flavor. I was impressed(I’m an American with an embarrassingly predictable passion for burgers).

This is my favorite bar in Brisbane. Some local friends of mine took me to The Greaser for the first time a few months ago. The entrance is awesome as you walk through a kitchen environment and into the bar itself. The lighting is a bit dimmer which gives it character. They usually have live bands playing some great music as well. My favorite part was that they have Sierra Nevada on tap! Sierra Nevada is brewed from my hometown in Chico, California. This was an amazing surprise and won me over! Must check this joint out!

Venue is very cool, down an alley, through a kitchen, under some pipes. Food I though was overrated, people raved about burgers, but I thought they were small, although flavor was nice. Cocktails were good, Had the bloody Mary made with gin, nice and spicy. Would come back for drinks with friends to hang, but not to eat.

Yeah, I’m a fan of this place. Found it by accident one day, saw the guy guarding the door to the back ally & got curious o I asked, and checked it out. As a Yank, it’s a combo of good burgers & fries. I was immediatly reminded of a back ally bar I went to in Hong Kong many many years ago. It has the feel of a jazz club/blues club underground type feel, but plays 60’s soul one night, and classic rock the next. It’s usually pretty empty when I get there at the end of the shift, so wife & I like it having the place pretty much to ourselves. All we order is the burger & fries for $ 12 each. Full as by the time we’re done. Could use a better beer selection on tap, but hey, if that’s all I’ve got to complain about, then I’m a spoiled brat in my 50’s. It’s a cool atmosphere with good food. Haven’t strayed from our usual fare yet. I’m happy with what I order. I dig it, you will too. I was hoping to have kept this place my own secret. I don’t think it’s going to be one for much longer. Enjoy.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Hands down the best bar in Brisbane I’ve been to in years. Greaser is bang on trend in the way that only a place opened once a trend has settled down can be. Serves generally American food and drinks? Check. Craft beer? Check. Much edgier barstaff than you are? Check? Down an alley? Check. Johnny Cash on the stereo? Check and check. I wanted to go because I wanted to try it but with some recent rock bottom experiences with other bars in this vein I kept expectations set to low. There is nothing particularly original about Greasers. American food stopped being a revelation a while ago, and frankly is starting to grate a little. Bloody Marys and Picklebacks are having a real moment right now so people are slinging them at you anywhere you go. And craft beer? You can now actually get it with breakfast some places. The fact that these are everywhere does not in any way diminish their appeal. I like burgers, I love bloody marys, and I enjoy brine more than is entirely reasonable. And these offerings are made all the more appealing by Greaser. The space itself is lovely with ample couch seating and booths, elegantly low lighting that isn’t seedy and the mid-century music that is curated rather than cloying. Special mention must be made of the staff. During our visit they were uniformly incredibly polite, attentive and very very pleasant to deal with. Knowledgeable about the drinks behind them and able to mix an excellent cocktail. These are the sort of staff we should see more of and who should be clutched like rare diamonds by bar owners. Special shout to the woman with the tattoos and undercut. She mixed what is easily the best bloody mary I’ve had in Brisbane. Served on bourbon with plenty of hot sauce, this was living and this was living well. Greaser also has a top flight tequila selection which is really great to see. It’s wonderful that more places are experimenting with tequila and incorporating it into more than shots, which is a really barbaric way to treat a drink of such complexity. One of our group hailed from Mexico City so this was a blessed relief. My ex is Mexican and nothing says ‘Australians are completely clueless about soft racism’ than taking someone’s national drink and letting bogans punch it until they fall over Here the reposada is served in appropriate glassware and all is good. The troubles with on-trend establishments are just like the troubles of any other establishment, poor staff, wrong price point, sub-par offerings etc. The problem is when a venue is also tricked up there can be a gloss over it that keeps people coming back for no particularly great reason other than to be seen to enjoy themselves. Greaser suffers for none of this. This is a bar that is serious about being a bar. All venues need an edge. But as more and more venues in Brisbane slide from creative to kitsch it is deeply refreshing to see a venue like Greaser that maintains an interesting point but does it with a laser like focus on great service, great décor, great drinks and great food. It’s a real credit to the group behind this venture. I’ll be back. A lot.

I wish this bar had been here when I was living in Brisbane back in 2012. Greaser Bar is now my favorite bar in New Orleans. They play music I love; Johnny Cash, The Four Seasons, Roy Orbison and many other classics spun by a great DJ. Their beer selection is the best in the Valley. Sierra Nevada– ONTAP. Multiple imports and microbrews in the fridge and on tap as well. It’s a bit pricey but that’s what you get when you break the XXXX/Toohey’s/VB/Bundy-and-Coke mold. The venue itself is in a basement; very well laid out with ample seating and plenty of spaces for dancing and what not. There are enough corners, dividers and walls about to find some privacy or get away from the noise if you want. It’s a brilliant little space with a lot of potential. They do have a kitchen with a menu focusing on burgers/fries and the like but I didn’t get a chance to try it; I’ll update the review if I do. This place is a treasure and a fine asset to Fortitude Valley’s night time scene.

I won’t lie to you… We may have eaten here twice within 24 hours but we’re not even a little bit ashamed! Brisbane has it’s dance clubs & cocktail bars & hipster designed boutique hang outs, but Greaser offers a much needed alternative for those who want a decent feed, relaxed vibes and a couple of drinks. Jumping on the ever so popular ‘American style food’ trend, Greaser serves up a simple but delicious menu of burgers, hot dogs & fried chicken. With the recent influx of USA inspired cuisine popping up around town I will admit I rolled my eyes when I first laid eyes on the menu. But boy was I wrong! That cheeseburger… I want to have its babies. Watever they do to that meat pattie & bun is the closest thing to burger magic I have ever come across. The atmosphere of this joint is right up my alley with photographs of some of my heroes plastered on the walls & old timey music playing all night long. No dubstep or bass drops here! The service was brilliant! Even the chefs said hello & goodbye to us on both occasions & the gentleman behind the bar satisfied my curiosity ever so politely while he answered my many questions about the different ingredients of my cocktails. If you head down on a Friday night you’ll probably find me stuffing my face with my second cheeseburger and jigging along to the music. It was a pleasure meeting you Greaser, you’re already my new best friend.

I saw a photo of Greaser online of its creepy back area, a concrete and fluroescent light dungeon covered in menacing graffiti, and made plans with friends to go there immediately. Greaser’s shtick is, well, a 50s American greaser bar. Think of the kind of place James Dean and the Fonz would have a beverage. It also serves greasy(hehe) American food like fried chicken, burgers, fries and hot dogs. Greaser’s front bar area is not a creepy dungeon at all, and quite elegant and cosy under the dim lighting. Between all of us, my group of friends ordered everything off the menu. I ordered the fried chicken. The coating was KFC-like but with interesting spices in it — I think it may have been dukkah. Unlike KFC, I didn’t feel sadness and regrets afterwards — it was really delicious. Our meals came with onion-y«red eye» gravy and smoked chipotle mayonnaise, which I quickly became addicted to and mopped up with chips. There’s a few interesting beers on tap but I had the special that night — whisky with freshly-made apple juice, straight from the juicer. PLUS the bar played some fun rockabilly and 80s tunes that got us chair-dancing over our burgers. Greaser is pretty cool. I hope they hold events and gigs in the future because it’s a rad little space.
