Unilocalers! I know you are going to see the name of a chain store and yawn, but Ksubi’s new store in the Valley is something a little more special than your average retail experience. I walked in with low expectations. All I’ve really known about Ksubi is they sell clothes, but I am delighted to announce that they are also conscious and supportive of the Brisbane arts scene. Their store will not only house the garments of Ksubi, but will also act as the gallery space K.O.M.A(Kontemporary of Modern Art). Paul Wilson, brand manager of Ksubi stated that K.O.M.A will aim to be an «ongoing artist program that will support Australian contemporary artists». When I went into the store I saw a fabric installation which adds such a great depth to the space, and saw that the mezzanine level is currently being worked out as another exhibition space. The project is an initiative between the James Street Initiative, the Institute of Modern Art and Ksubi. This amazing concept is well worth experiencing. I’m a huge fan of trawling through art galleries as well a bit of retail therapy, so this excited me a lot! Get into it people!

So it begins, the Brisbane chapter of one of Australia’s most influential brands has hit our little town. Firstly this is one of the most beautifully designed places that I’ve been too. The huge white army camouflage that hangs from the roof is so weird it’s awesome and in amazing contrast to the brightly coloured clothes that hang on the racks underneath it. At the time of writing the shop has only been apart of James St for a little over a week. The store has lived up to the brands name as well by hiring some seriously gorgeous women to run the store. Well-done team. As much as I love Ksubi and their designs I just can’t even bare to look at the price tags sometimes. The eyewear, the shoes, the denim, the everything. Just go in and fantasise about having your wardrobe at home filled with these uniquely designed pieces of clothing. If you really appreciate what hangs off your meaty exterior I highly recommend you cover it with something from this store. I might be geeking out a bit here being such a fan of the label but trust me with this one; it’s an incredible place to give in to your self-control. «Yes okay beautiful lady, here is my credit card. But first would you mind saying, seven-hundred-dollars in a Spanish accent please. I’m hoping it will ease the pain.»
