This is an Indian/Malaysian place, somewhat hidden from the street, but quiet, and small inside. I went ahead and tried their staple, a roti with lentils. I’ve had a few Malaysian-style roti, and this place kind of confirmed there is something about them that I can’t quite put my finger on but don’t really like regardless of who makes them. They’re kind of oily and squishy. The dal was reasonably tasty, but also a little watery and a little salty. It was quick service and a nice place for a downtown worker to eat lunch, but I wasn’t enthused enough with what I got, nor with their menu, which was modest in vegetarian choices as Malaysian often seems to be, and oddly lacking in cheap appetizers.

The staff welcomed myself and another patron in even though it was technically before they opened. The menu was explained in detail and a recommendation given. The food came out very promptly and the service was excellent. He even gave me a tip of the best way to eat the dish. The prices are very reasonable and I’ll be back the next time I’m in town!

I cannot emphasise enough how good this place is for lunch. The value and the service are unsurpassed in this precinct. I walked in and ordered a takeaway Roti Canai without any waiting and had my meal within a matter of minutes. Meanwhile, people were queued just to order at both Guzman and Grill’d. The roti canai comes with a small curry and two huge, full sized rotis cooked fresh on the hot plate. It costs only $ 10.50. Give your money to a local business rather than one of the chains! If you check in on Unilocal!,you can get a free glass of house wine if you order a main to eat in.

My check-ins don’t reflect my patronage. Let’s just say I started going a few weeks ago, and I’m very quickly coming up to my 8th visit(which gives you your meal for free if ordering in one of those take-away apps). I’m sure it’s one of the unhealthiest things in the world to eat. But it’s just so delicious. I’ve only ordered the two plain roti and curry deal so far cause I’m hooked. The lamb curry is by far the best I’ve had in Brisbane. Order online, wait 5 mins, zoom in to Emporium, double park, grab your foil wrapped oily goodness, come home, strip to your undies(remember the oil?), gorge in front of Netflix. Perfect weeknight for one!

Great mix of Tamil and Malaysian food. The staff are friendly and the service is quick, recommended for anyone wanting to try out different type of Indian food :)
