Amazing service, beautiful wine and a little bit of France in freo X the wine as is everywhere expensive but to start the Night with friends and share a bottle it’s great

They really get the Paris vibe going on here — simple food and good wine. There is a nice upstairs section which is quiet or you can sit out on the street and watch Freo meander by. Share plates are based around nibbling and snacking — it’s not a place for a heavy meal. Charcuterie boards, baguettes and cheese are on the menu with a mix of French, Australian and South African wine. It has a chilled out vibe which is great for a couple of drinks and a snack, though not sure it’s really a place you’d stay for a whole afternoon.

Really sorry to give this rating after seeing all the positive reviews in other posts. However, my buddies and I jumped out of a cab, we took a couple of photos in front of the bar, commemorating the wetting of the baby’s head for our friend, but I perceive it was deemed too«Miley Cyrus» like as we entered the bar and were turned away immediately. Only 20m down the road, the guys at X-Ray were more than happy accommodate us to celebrate the night. Sorry Whisper Bar for the rating, but very disappointed :(

Stopped in with a group of girlfriends and the place was great! The wine list had so many good wines to choose from that I couldn’t decide!

Terrific small bar with polite European service. Quite a nice little selection of wines by the glass, more available by the bottle, both Australian and international. Run by a couple who seem pretty keen on delivering quality and consistent service. Pretty little upstairs seating area that, although it doesn’t have any noteworthy view, does give direct and airy access to the outdoors, without the bustle of the passers-by. I really enjoy the cheese plate with a glass of wine there. Top spot for a drink to kick start your night, before you move on to something heavier.

J’Adore Whisper Wine Bar! This is by far my favourite wine bar in Perth. This delightful bar exudes French charm from the planter boxes filled with red flowers hanging off the wrought iron balcony, to the featured wines to the deliciously French staff. It excels in its simplicity. A good, well thought wine list showcases one of each type of wine — a list of reds and a list of white. It touches only briefly on other alcoholic beverages with a very limited beer by the bottle and spirit selection. Food is also kept minimalistic with antipasto, baguette and cheese platters available. There’s no ritzy fan fare, just a warm, welcoming and humble wine bar that’s perfect for quaffing wine with a date or a small group of friends.

A Parisian whisper of fresh air. First stumbled upon unexpectedly, the Whisper Wine Bar has fast become a solid favourite among close friends. A mature, friendly clientele with equally accommodating staff — it certainly has been a most enjoyable journey sampling their wide array of lovely wines. From devouring a gorgeous red in the cozy upstairs sitting area on those cold Fremantle nights to sitting out on the street level with a crisp white in summer; this bar is fantastic all year around.

I’m very fond of this place. While other Freo watering holes afford seaside air, harbor views or weirdo people watching; this little gem hides away all cosy and courtly. Owned by a French couple who know their Muscats from Malbecs, Whisper unlocks a different wine selection each week. European feeling, chocolate wood, welcoming and warm. Almost like drinking inside somebody’s private wine cellar. You don’t feel like you’re in Fremantle and you don’t even really feel like you’re in Oz. Wintertime small bar wonder.

I finally found this place late on a Friday evening a couple of weeks ago. A few friends and I were traipsing around Fremantle, looking for something to do after a dinner became slightly more like a party than we’d intended. This was perfect. They have an very extensive wine list, which the staff were more than happy to make recommendations from. As we weren’t in a particularly fussy mood, we took their wine-of-the-week and headed upstairs to sit out on the balcony. The balcony overlooks Essex Street and on a weekend night, there’s quite a lot of hilarious people watching to be had. We ended up whiling away a few hours(and a couple of bottles) up here, enjoying the chilled out atmosphere and conversation-friendly lack of noise. I’ve waited a long time for Freo to get a decent wine bar, and I’m glad this one is both well stocked and comfortable to hang out in.

Take a stroll down Essex Street and you might just find you’ve entered another country. Keep going past XWray, the backpacker’s hostel, the Korean restaurant and Istanbul and you’ll find a little slice of Parisian chic. Whisper Wine Bar is a relatively new establishment in Fremantle, and as such is only known amongst those with a love for fine wines. With a façade more like a terrace you’d find in the streets Le Marais, it’s warm and inviting exterior continues on inside. With the bar downstairs(manned by friendly sommeliers, of course) and an intimate upstairs lounge complete with balcony overlooking the street, it’d make for a perfect venue to impress any lady. But you want to know about their wines, don’t you? They’re superb. With a range of both local and international boutiques beers as wines from South Africa, Italy, France and of course our own vineyards, you’ll find a delectable drop and a small range of finger foods to compliment. Perfect any time of evening or afternoon.

How sweet and cosy this little drop of French in Italian Freo is. They have a large selection of wines both new world and old. They also have an inspiring albeit expensive menu of tasing platters, cheeses and Mediterranean style antipastos. It is quite a trendy spot with inviting outdoor seating and a fresh, modern wooden interior. I’m not sure how they manage to remain free of pretense here. The very name and setting would often assume pretentious but thankfully we are saved. A nice afternoon spot for a glass and some olives.

Owners Helene and Thierry have injected a little Parisian style into multicultural Freo with this intimate little secret of a bar. It’s very new, hence I’d not heard of it when I stumbled across it, but I’m glad I did. The décor is minimalist and clean: all wood and stainless steel furnishings, with seating available at street level and upstairs, making it perfect for people-watching of an evening. While proud of their quality French wines, there are also plenty of Australian and New Zealand drops to sample here. Since I am allergic to reds, I had to pass up the many imported ones on offer, and opted instead for a glass of trusty WA Rocky Gully Riesling. Paired with a plate of duck rillette, poached fruit and a French bagette, I was in decadent heaven!
