Definitely a great way to start a Sunday. We opted to sit outside and enjoy our delicious meals with a spot of sparkling red on the side. Breakfast is served from 9am. I went for the bacon and poached eggs while the others chose the bacon & egg roll with hash browns and the smoked salmon & chive omelette. Put this one on your ‘must try’ list.

This would have been a 5 star review but for a couple of problems — We hadn’t booked and the friendly staff let us know even though the dining room was full that we could sit anywhere else so we chose to sit outside which was lovely. The line to order took a while but because they were so busy we can forgive that. Food came out super fast especially for such a busy night. Impressive. I had the mushroom and blue cheese(soup of the day) soup which for $ 7 is an insane bargain. Gorgeous bruschetta bread with it. My husbands schnitzel was a stock standard pub schnitzel nothing to scream home about. Sadly both of our chips were undercooked and soggy. This combined with a 15 min wait to order dessert is what has bought the stars down. Lovely cake range. Will definitely come back here again. Lovely staff.

A gem, lovely modern dining in the heart of Gawler. We came on recommendation from the pub up the street. Great service, lovely meals such as $ 20 skewers served cooked handing on a skewer at the table — must see. The kids are looked after with a build your own dessert cookie.

Imagine my surprise when I walked into this pub to discover that it was a trendy pub in the heart of Gawler. Actually, I probably shouldn’t be all that surprised because there are 11 pubs all trying to compete with each other, and since Gawler does have that old historic town charm no doubt it is a draw card for a young professionals. I actually really liked this place, especially the beer garden down the side, and there is plenty of room to sit with friends over a couple of decent brews. There is a shopping strip that runs down the side, but that didn’t put me off the place. I couldn’t see any pokies though, but they did have a TAB which made me think that there are probably pokies hidden away somewhere. Mind you, since I couldn’t see them I really didn’t think about them which made this pub a much better place to sit down and relax.

It was so good I forgot to photograph my meal before I started eating it! The staff are extremely bubbly and actually seem pretty keen about their job. That’s a pretty nice change from most pubs that serve food but the Golden Fleece really appears to be trying to set itself apart from the rest. There was a slight mix up with our reserved table that was given to someone else,(we really didn’t mind but the staff did…) so we were given table service at our alternative seating in the bar which I think may not be the usual for this pub more but due to our circumstance. The table service was excellent anyway. We had the potato skin entrée, I was dubious about them at first because I’ve had bad ones before but these were excellent. I had a chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy. I haven’t had a schnitzel in ages and I expect a pub to make a decent one. I wasn’t disappointed, the gravy was on point.
