Officeworks is great and this store is no exception. I’ve only ever found the staff here to be friendly and a great help. This is a larger version of the store so it has everything from pens and pencils right up to office desks and chairs. There’s always some great stuff on sale near the counters and there’s heaps of USB thumb drives on sale, especially the 8GB variety. Given its location to the University of Sydney, it’s a handy place for students to stock up on supplies. The print section is invaluable and pretty reasonably priced too with everything available from a single page print right up to six-foot banners.

One of the largest office works I’ve been too. Very well stocked and the opening hours are generally convenient for picking things up enroute to work or uni. They actually have parking in store but it’s easy enough finding free parking outside anyway. I’ve used their photo printing service a few times and have always been happy with the services. It’s quite reasonably priced too! Check out the catalogue for weekly specials and free seminars they run from time to time.

I posted this on their FB page: I’d like to give feedback on a negative experience I had at your Forest Lodge(my mistake — it’s the Glebe branch) branch this morning. It was before 8AM and I needed to pick up some items for the office. I couldn’t find some items on my list. That current branch is moving stock around, and there was a sign saying that if we couldn’t find something, to approach staff. I could see two employees at the counter but they were busy with other customers/on the phone. So I approached this young man. I asked if he could please help me. His curt reply: «No. I’m putting up fixtures.» I asked if there was someone who could help me, and he bluntly replied he didn’t know and to look for someone else. When I finally got to talk to someone(around 5 minutes later of walking around the store without seeing anyone else) what a difference in attitude! I don’t remember her name, but she said warmly, «I can’t help you right now, but John(if my memory services me right) will help you in a minute.» John was really helpful and I was able to find the items I wanted. Shame about that other fellow though. I understand if employees are busy with other tasks, but brushing off a customer isn’t good service at all.

There’s something exciting about Officeworks. It happens in Ikea and it happens in hardware stores, too. Step inside a place in this vein and the mind gets to considering the myriad possibilities. «This lamp is going to illuminate my work SOMUCH! This desk will support my computer against gravity SOWELL! My files will become SOPORTABLE on this USB thumbdrive!» And so on. This excitement is tripled by the Officeworks opposite Sydney University, already a place of considerable optimism. And when you factor in the 9pm closing time on weeknights, minds are ready to explode. With a parking lot behind the store, get in and get a jump start on your magnum opus. Or walk around the aisles and just bask in the sound of the fleet of Xerox machines, the smell of pulp and paper, the feel of an imposing leather office chair.
