Good spot to go and people watch. Its in a prime location too. The staff and security are generally great. Unfortunately the Management have failed to invest in(or even maintain) this place for years. It is run down, dirty, smelly and generally resembles the inside of a large dumpster. The less respect the Management give this place, the less the customers will. This is becoming evident with the damage and vandalism that some of the customers are doing to the place. A few weeks ago some friends and I walked into the toilets and saw someone has sprayed the place with their own faeces. This isn’t uncommon. You just don’t get this in the other clean and respectful establishments down at Glenelg.

Ordered the salted squid and a club sandwich. After ½ an hour we got cold rubbery squid(about 6 little pieces for $ 18), and a toasted sandwich that was as hard as a rock and looked(and tasted) like it was cooked last week. They’re obviously used to cooking for drunks who don’t know the difference. Crap food, overpriced and very poor.

What can be said about this place that people don’t know… not alot really! Situated on the the main road in Glenelg(Jetty Rd) it is a local for many people. The sports bar seems to be where most the locals hang out and it a pretty average looking place. The next door bar is again not the best looking place, but thats adds to its charm by not pretending to be something it isn’t. This is a bar if like a lot of noise, usually from the live bands playing in such a small place, and a lot of drinking. They have good drink specials every day/night. There is a small outdoor area, but you have to purchase food to sit there, which is drawback i think. Behind bars is a quite nice bistro area that serves pub grub well… the usuals of burgers, beer battered fish, roast of the day and of course schnitzels all appear!

It’s where the wankers go to breed. But don’t mind them, this place is easy. It accommodates all sorts of people, even if you’re not covered in tattoos. 95% of the time you’ll have a good night. It’s unpretentious, fun and things can get a little loose in the lounge bar. The meals are good value. I enjoy the Thai Beef Salad($ 16). The Snitty’s come with a funny piece of buttered toast on top, like they’re worried you’re not going to be full. No need to worry.

Bogan night out. whip on your flannos and your thongs and come on down for a Westie. I feel a little out of place here, this may be because I take a different kind of pride in my appearance. the people seem friendly enough though, until the sun goes down and more Westies go down and then the shit goes down and we all have to move out of the way before we’re unwillingly taken down in a someone elses bar fight. the décor is dingy and old, but not comforting just dirty feeling. The Jetty Bar is not where you go when you are sporting a pair of heels and a clutch because you will make the entrance of the century and spend the rest of the night being ogled and trying to bat off the vultures. But if you don’t want to impress anyone then this is your dive.

The Jetty Hotel is one of the oldest pubs in the bay. While it has undergone some cosmetic changes in recent years the actual layout still remains pretty well unchanged from how it used to look when it went by the name the St Vincent Hotel. Interestingly when the pub first opened back in 1869, it was known as The Jetty Hotel so it has gone back to its original name. If you like to listen to some music while you sip your drink, The Jetty has live bands on most Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. When the bands aren’t playing they have a jukebox in the front bar that’s rocking from 7 each night and on Wednesdays you can get into a bit of karaōke if that’s your thing. The Jetty Hotel isn’t a ritzy experience. It’s the kind of pub where you have a beer and put your bets on if you’re in the front bar but it is a good place to watch the world go by. If you’re in the market for a bite to eat, you can get a good feed either in the front bar or the Watergarden Bistro. They also have a café and a function room to accommodate close to 150 people. Should you so desire you can stay at The Jetty. It has 16 rooms and the rooms are well priced.

There are 4 exclusive parts to the Jetty Bar. Take a step back in time to the front bar, when this drinking hole was known to locals as The St Vincent Hotel(The joys of dating a Cougar). Excluding a fresh coat of paint, updated carpet, the front bar bar is still in original form(including the regulars that drink there). Look out for the snake bite specials, going out at 10 bucks a jug. You can still catch a local rock/punk band playing on your favourite night of the week(I can’t remember what night that is). A step through the corridor and past an ATM, will take you to another bar with big screen TV’s and a decent coctail menu. Bi-fold glass doors open up to Moseley Square. This place is more upmarket, so leave your flannel shirt and the previous bar, and whack on your Don Travisty instead. If you’re over front bar action, head to rear bistro which has the vibe and décor that reflects a Goldcoast Casino in the 90’s. The schnittys are hot, and still at fair bistro prices. Finish your meal to the ambience of a water feature, and if you need time to re-coup, the pokies are just to the right. When you’re ready to move on, take 5 steps to the rear car park, or continue on to «The G»
